I remember on Chilistra when there was like a month period where NOONE was able to make T21s due to resource requirements and them not spawning. If this were to happen in JTL it would be a huge setback for SOE. Many people who are waiting for this expansion rabidly would cancel their accounts because if this comes out and it is bug ridden, they will give up and cancel. I am not one of those people (hey I still have my origional star wars poster...its a lifestyle here) but I know many who are, and would hate to lose alot of ingame friends due to another poorly implemented part of SWG.

Once the beta comes out next month, I would easily imagine that every SWG strategy site and schematic listings will have everything required to build every ship, and you will be able to get ready for it to launch. All you have to do is take a bit of effort to go look for it. Some places have listings of all the requirements for light sabers already, so don't see why they won't have ships soon as the beta is out.

I think that everyone will already know what reasources to get from the beta. So either you let the uber crafters master shipwright in a day or ships require one or more new materials to keep it clean for all of us crafters.

Dont count on this... Remember SWG beta had a very extensive Non Disclousere act... I would not be suprised that all the Beta Testers for JTL will have to sign a Non Disclouser Contract in order to get access to the beta....

Once it gets close to release date, they may get the ability to talk about it in the open... but during beta I would bet that it would be a real No No...

Four new space-specific professions

What good would stockpileing Materials do if the Shipwrights ends up being a combination of 1 NEW Profession AND 1 NEW advanced job? Sure their gonna have loads of materials, but they may wind up having 3million of 1 material and end up needing 3million of a totaly different material AND not even be the right profession. Just wait till the release adn see how it works. Heck, the EXP needed to move up the skill tree for a shipwright might even be 2-3x what any other prof currently is. I expect to see a bunch of Tie's and maybe e-wings flying around at the start, but dont expect to see loads of x-wings, tie-intercepters or Falcon's flying around withen 3 days.

Yes, but the other three space-specific professions are all pilot professions, so that won't happen.

Yes...non-disclosure is generally a rule of SOE betas. And IF I have ever participated in a SOE beta, I meticulously followed the rule.

But not everyone does. And I expect that this will be the case. Many sites wouldn't be willing to help the devs track down a source of information, and information could easily be sent to a webmsater's inbox and posted by the webmaster without any sort of address or other identifying information. I strongly suspect this will happen.

And I don't think SOE can do much if a webmaster who isn't in their Beta posts information about the Beta. SWG may be intellectual property but new developments are also generally regarded as newsworthy.

I bought this game at launchfor one reason and one reason only: so I could roleplay a Mon Calamari Shipwright. At that point, the devs were already saying that they not only expected, but desired to give vetern players a boost into the expansion, and that the time lapse between the launch and the expansion would allow players to gain enough resources (probably meaning credits in this use of the word) to have an advantage over people who bought the game later.

It only makes sense to reward the people who have stuck with you the longest, and I genuinely hope SOE stays with current resources as one way to help those of us who desire to be shipwrights in our path to master.

you can't have one piece of iron with a stat called neutrieno field and another without. It'll jack up the database. They can simply add new subtypes as special requirements. These type would be something like pantium steel and bigtho crystalline gemstone. If these resources don't spawn until JTL launch, no one can start harvesting them.

On the downside, if you are a consumer, do you want to wait for your shipwright to get enough of these materials to build your ship? I advise you to start stockpiling yourself. Although, I understand your concern, I think that restriction is a bad idea. Remember when we were all newbs with cdefs? That took forever to level. It was 3 weeks before I got a decent gun. I don't want to see that happen with ships too.

Stop getting the devs to do the work you won't.

I really agree with that....you know its been planned since launch, now you know it will require the same amount of resources as a guild hall to build a top ship (I think its something like that, it was on one of the interviews). Save up resources, mine for lots of different types...

but you count in in your thoughts thats exactly that JTL beta testers will for their own know what resources needed and collect and stockpile for their own or?

means if thousands of beta testers will become shipbuilder thats enough to have a advantage or?

they maybe only maybe not telling others or guildmates about requirements but they can gather for themself still

LMAO dont worry EVERYBODY TALKS!!!!!

If you have ever tried growing marijuana you will know that if you tell ONE person, everybody else knows!!!

Now the difference between the first beta and now? We have friends in game now, who will not mind spilling the beans to us privately. Please we will ALL know the requirments for what we need on ships.

1000 people will beat you to Master Shipwright, and already have millions of credits, and have already been stockpiling millions ofinorganic minerals for quite some time

You don't really stand a chance ...

True. People are already using heavies to pull up millions of every type of inorganicjust on the chance that it might be used in a ship schematic. Then these people (who have no jobs and no lives) will spend the first several days after JtL goes live in a massive grinding binge just to try to capture the market.

In the real world, we applaud these folks for their energy and foresight. In a virtual world, it seems somehow exploitative.

I am hoping that for the SE launch, the devs will introduce some new resources. They will still be the same steel, ore, aluminium etc, but they will have new stat types. For example, new shifts of iron might be given a new stat called "hyperspace resistance" (ok it would be called something else but u get the picture).

This would render all current resources to Shipwrights USELESS. I think this is a good thing as it will provide a much larger chance for all crafters to start on a level playing field when the SE launches. Obviously the people with millions of credits will still have an advantage but at least they will have to work to get the resources just like the newer crafters when the SE is launched.

I actually agree that the design of ship schematics should put new Shipwrights on a relatively even playing field with old-timer Architect, WS and AS players. OK, so it takes three weeks for the "best" ships to become available... so? Where is it written that we should get everything we want right away?

I'd actually rather see new resources required for shipbuilding than to tweak existing resources with new stats, but even that would be better than just using only existing resource types. (Sadly, the word is out that the best option of them all -- new resources that can only be gathered in space -- is not currently planned for JtL.)

Oh, well. We should probably be grateful that anything related to crafting shipsis in JtL at all. It won't be the "deep" game it should be, but it will certainly have plenty of mindless combat for those who are satisfied with that.
