Thread: Is profit on vehicles worth the bother?
A while back, the Theed bazaar on one of my servers was flooded with Swoops for 6000 credits...Every day I checked the bazaar andit was restocked with the things every day for about a week.
Can I just say I hate the hologrinders, I hate what hologrinders have done to my favorite professions, and I hate what hologrinders have done to the economy.
Even with the hologrind grinding to a halt in the next while, I think they have caused irreperable damage to the game. From now on, any noob who bought a swoop off the bazaar at 6k will think that is a normal price for swoops. Whether they see one for 60k, 30k, or 16k, these people are going to complain that they're being ripped off. Resource prices which used to max out at 5 CPU have now reached prices upwards of 500 CPU. Whereas every cantina used to have groups of entertainers who intereacted with one another, we now have about 3 cantinas where there are a hundred macrotainers squeezed in trying to milk every drop of xp while yelling "Tip me" "Heal me" "Invite me." The other cantinas? They remain empty now because the live entertainers have been driven from the game. And of course, who can forget the AFK hunt&harvest? Where someone leeches themselves to a hunting group with an auto harvest/loot macro running.
You want stability and order in pricing? Educate those who are new. Tell them about how the economy used to be healthy. Let them know that there were not always holocrafters who flooded the markets with below-cost items, and show them practical ways to price items in order to help repair the economy.
here is again the stupidity to see from non RL businessmen
/sigh
well you got no clue what value yur vehicles have and tat demand is there.
a businessman would try to sell for proper price with a good win to make it worth the work to get tonns of resources.
weaponsmithes and armorsmithes know how it works, most other crafters got sadly no clue about it.
if pure resources sell for 2cpu (grind stuff not good for vehicles) to 6 or more cpu for high quality reosurces, then to sell a finihsed product incl. crit fail chances for like 2 cpu is just an imaginary win and actually a loss (so pretty stupid)
people demand vehicles and like 10cpu for such finished product with experi over 90% would be a fair and proper price.
i will never get it why people dont see such points and work for almost nothing, thats why i gave up making such stuff simply.
i produce some things and put for a proper price for me into my shop, sure selling less cause of to many idiots but at least i know i dont work for nothing.
the steel and non ferous resources i can easily sell for like min 6 cpu when i have quality reources. (it dont matter how much it cost you to harvest it, it matters what the market value of pure resources is to make a price/price under market value=loss, easy as that)
I use grinding (poor quality) resources, sell for a few cpu above resource cost, and sell more "cheap" vehicles than I do expensive ones. The reason is people would rather buy 3 or 4 cheap swoops, wear them out, and buy 3 or 4 more, rather than keep paying the outrageous repair cost or paying to travel from someplace like Yavin or Dathomir to repair them...
Totally depends on what market you are looking to sell to...

Anything less than 3 cpu - you can make the same amount of money and sometimes more just selling the resources. Plus, you'll get a faster cash turnover because you'll sell the resources in bulk. This is why I don't understand vehicle pricing ... there are faster and more profitable ways to use those resources.

I'd say the resource price is dependant on your server, with the holo-grind screaming to a halt, grind quality resource priceson my server have taken a nose dive.In some instances someone can make more money turning some of those junk resources into swoops while selling for around 2 cpu.

Those junk resources on your server are selling less than 2 cpu?

I haven't started factory runs of them but might consider doing that.
My recommendation is don't. Running a factory (assuming it's not on a borrowed lot, actually owned by someone else) make the financial equation even worse.
Look at it this way - if you could sell the resources for 3 cpu, then we would all agree that selling the swoop for less than 24K would be foolish. But if you also run a factory, you are taking up a lot that could be harvesting even more 3 cpu resources. So by running a factory, the opportunity cost is greater than 8K resources per swoop. If the factory lot isn't yours, there is no extra "loss".
