My buddy and I are in business together. We pretty much just share cash, resources, time, etc...

If he needs something, I'll help him get it, and vice versa, and this applies to cash, items, resources, and time (missions and such). At this point he is going the merchant route while I'm at master artisan still pondering which tree to continue on. But he is handling the vendors and advertising, while I travel around as the representative to differant planets, watching the markets for new things or striking deals with other crafters to export stuff to our vendors.

If your RL friends...then whatever you do will work fine. If your not, than you may want to work out agreements on things just to avoid disagreements down the road.
