You don't have to bea Master Artisan. If you want those skill points so badly, simply arrange to buy the parts you need off of a Master Artisan and avoid it yourself. It lessens your profits, but that's tolerable...

Master Architects also need Master Artisan parts. Had a hard time finding Master Artisans around so I decided to go for it myself. Just part of the business.

Weaponsmiths also require Master Artisian stuff. Stun battons require a pair of power conditioners.

So.... why does someone master artisan?

Other than vehicles, what is there to do with this skill mastery?

For some elite professions, it's nice to be able to craft your own GP Modules, Control Units, Memory Modules, Micro Sensor Suites, Energy Distributors, and Power Conditioners rather than having to track down a master artisan.

But if you don't mind relying on someone else for subcomponents, it can be dropped to free up skill points.

I mastered it because I find all Artisan trees useful, so why not?

I like the spiffy title you get, 'Master Artisan', make me feel all important and warm inside. Worth the one point in itself.

/sarcasm off.

You ever see what a Master Artisan with good resources can make in Power Ups....that is reason alone to get it.

Here's why I mastered it:

I needed 4000 for weaponsmithing (working on master WS)

I needed 0040 for Merchant (wanted Advertising 3 to register my weapons vendor on planetary map)

I needed 0004 in order to survey (All artisans need resources)

What the heck I might as well master it for the extra experimentation points (good power-ups) and to make my own Control Units, GP Modules, Microsensor Suites)

I personally mastered artisan so that I could make speeders, not to sell, but just so I could have one of each...

You don't need to be Master Artisan to make good powerups. Just need to have Engineering 4 and Domestic Arts4. That's where all your experimentation points come from

That's a whole lot of skill points just to make your own vehicles. Why not just buy em?
