I noticed that alot of DEs are master artisans but the only requirement for DE is engineering 4. Why do so many DEs master artisan? Is there some sort of droid component available only in master artisan?

Yes, The Electronic GP Module, the Electronic Memory Module, the Control Unit, the Micro Sensor Suite.....

It has been calculated that 41 of our schematics require these components in massive quantities. Either you go ahead and Master Artisan yourself or strike up a bartering relationship with another MA (which can get quite expensive and sometimes inconvenient for some people).

Hmm that doesn't seem fair. They should either move those items into engineering, but I guess that's already DE issue.

Since theoretically at least, droids are much more complex than weapons, armor, or homes --- they could have easily made MA the prerequisite for DE instead of Eng 4. Then you would have none of us would have any problem getting those parts.

Same reason many armorsmiths are either tailors or in a working relationship with a tailor. Schematic requirements.

Interdependency is good, but ours is way out of balance - opps did I say balance, DE if to engineering as CH is to Dancer - so it seems

Well, there is fixing to be a reward in a way for those DE that have Master Artisan. We can build Vehicles, if anything this is a indirect bump to DE and one I am looking forward to.

Just a quick lil' question:

Why are several of the droid components are only craftable by master artisans? If you look at the other Engineering crafting professions, they don't need master artisan to make any of their parts, so why do we?

Perhaps not as crutial but Armorsmiths need two components that only Master Artisans can make in order to make PSGs.

And although I am not certain, I do believe Archetect require something from Master Artisans as well.

Imo it make sense, to an extent anyway. If you think of a droid as a computer i feel it is understandable. How many people do you know who could make a computer from scratch? Build the hard disk or a modem?

I know lots of people however, who know how to combine all these components to make a working computer, this is how i see the DE. Somebody who is skilled at building droids but may not know how to make all the needed parts.

As far as the game is concerned, I think a DE should be able to make all components they will require. By making a DE master artisan to manufacture all components they are wasting valuable skill points, they already seem weak enough as they are!
