Thread: Post-CU Harvester Runs (real test data)

I fully expect the results will show that very little will change for us. I run a pure crafter - not a lick of combat in the profile - who can, and does, successfully place and maintain harvesters on ANY and EVERY planet in the game. There's no secret to this, no exploit, no elaborate series of foods, spices, or buffs - just me on a swoop. It always has, and always will boil down to a few simple things...caution, awareness, and a proficiency at tending harvesters. I think that some people need to realize that as crafters, we can't expect to purge an area of some threat around our harvesters. We can however avoid the treat, or at worst survive the encounter without death. One thing that many may not realize is that a creature will typically not deathblow you unless you attack it. I've been smacked down by Rancor who just looked at my incapped body and then wandered away - because I never took a swing at it. Don't think like a combatant and you'll typically find that you don't need to have any combat skills.

The other thing I noticed is that a lot of times I got incapped, but not DB'ed. Not sure if that will always hold true, but we can hope. Another thing to keep in mind is that line of sight is in play. Drop down behind a ditch and they can't attack you.

For the first bit there, refer to my earlier post . I had completely forgotten about the line-of-sight and terrain issues with the CU! That's right, terrain is now our friend. Boulders block weapons fire, and the hills and ditches work to our advantage (assuming you use them ). No more being shot at by Binayre Hooligans from 70m away on the other side of a mountain ridge....gotta love that!

The problem with this is I'm worried the market might not bear higher prices. If the goods that are made are not as valuable to the combatants who buy them (weapons not as powerful, armor less necessary, food doesn't work as well, etc. etc.) if we raise prices they will just pass on the item. This is my biggest concern over the CURB.

I absolutely believe this is correct. It's the first step in an ongoing process to nerf the crafting system

- I STILL support a rollback to the real SWG.

This is Sony. Never attribute to malice what can be explained by stupidity, incompetance, and the wilfull refusal to listen to your customer base.

Have you done harvester runs on planets like Corellia? I place 90% of my harvesters near Coronet, and I'm wondering how difficult that will be. I'm not a pure crafter; I have Pistols 4 and Ranged Support 3, so my Combat Rating won't be 1, but I'm still concerned about getting incapped by mottled wrixes and the like. Right now, placing harvesters on Corellia is a cinch, I've never been killed once (well, actually, I was killed once by Mellichae when he spawned 500 meters from C-net but that was really an atypical experience), and I'm really not looking forward to things becoming harder for no good reason. Damn these level-based damage multipliers. What were they thinking? WHAT WERE THEY THINKING??

That was on my list of things to test tonight, unfortunately due to the lack of spawns on all starter planets (most likely caused by too many factional bases in every server zone), any test data I would provide on these planets would be worthless. Sorry

my weaponsmith last night on ahazi, post CU, online for about an hour and a half.

haven't even gotten to the harvesters yet...this is between house and factories.

number of incaps: 2...hermit spider thingie, spitting rawl.

number of deaths: 1....this was in ONE hit ... no warning just boom "you have been slain by a mauler". i was on a swoop at the time.

expecting that hiring combat people, who have their own problems, is NOT a workable solution imo. as for combat droids? yeah my friend the level 10 architect lost his probot last night to a spitting rawl. on the plus side, he got away. however, clearly that would be an unacceptable and expensive solution having to constantly repair/replace droids. In addition, going anywhere more dangerous than naboo renders psg's useless since the type of damage they protect against (kinetic) isn't the biggest issue.

there ya have it...

Just thought i'd throw something in to think about!

Shame on me, i have 2 accounts, both non combat, 1 is also a master dancer and runs a solo group...

When my other char was in the solo group he was attacked by a hurrton huntress and was hit for 90-100 damage, i then decided to test and disbanded the group and i was then promptly hit by the same creature for 1300 damage and died instantly...

Obviously when i was getting hit for 90-100 i had plenty of time to finish what i was doing and ride around to break the aggro.

So! looks like the answer to me... as long as you know where to get into a group of course!

I'm running into a similar problem as a pure crafter. Ran out on Lok to maintain my harvs and some NPCs lag-spawned in on top of me. Instant Deathblow.

After cloning, I re-equipped my PSG (and let it charge), used a health buff crystal and at a synthsteak (good for a measly 36 seconds). This time, after being attacked, I was able toretreat toabout 50 meters away before the NPC killed me with a ranged attack.

Creatures don't seem to be a problem, but these NPCs are makingit less fun...

real test data...

ive cloned twice today... i was on naboo and one shot both times... exactly what i was a afraid of.. this is naboo a starter planet.. ive been incaped by hermit spiders in 2-3 hits.. one shot by acolytes, voritor forget about it.. they are hitting for 4 times my ham..

dev responce wear a psg... well that is just energy and what this stuff is hitting it it wont matter id be dead anyway

dev responce 2,, get an escort.. well it had better have a doc cause your gonna need a rez..

this is fact.. not some 1k test run... real playing. between no combat, server lag, and this soo outta wack lvl system.. no way a crafter can survive.. and btw i was one of those guys that did harvesters on endor and dath no buffs.. and could stay alive. now.. its just not possible

That's weird...why are the hermit spiders agroing on you guys? The Spitting rawls seem to leave me alone also.

I've actually stood in a nest of spitting rawls and they left me alone. They only get angry at me if I shoot them.
