It would be less stupid if the vehicle offering the ride got the TEF also, does anyone agree?

Just another example of BHs/Jedi whining about something and getting a fix through within a few months while other groups (Smugglers/Rangers) have been waiting for their promised profession revamps for over 18 months now.

I've been very supportive of the devs in the past, but even I'vegotten fed up with changes like these that are designed to cater to certain groups of the population while other aspects of the game are totally ignored.

Really, the new restrictions are dealing with stupid current behavior, and I don't find the restrictions unreasonable.

I still will miss the /offerride and /acceptride functionality, but I understand that they made for significant PvP problems, everything from using a friend to help you escape a BH ( or escape a Jedi ) to a lag-causing tool by griefers.

As such, even though I don't PvP, I've resigned myself that the new system is probably better.

No, BH TEF took care of this problem. If a BH has TEF you cannot offer the Jedi a ride successfully. I have no idea whatsoever why these additional limtations are necessary.

has more to do with spamming /offerride on the jedi to block his screen so the bh can kill them easier...so i'm told

It works both ways.

Personally, I like the RP aspect of an escape vehicle. *shrug*

The opposing faction and overt thing bugs me too. I'll highlight this thread with the devs and bring them that feedback.

I don't get this.... First you mention apro-RPreason not to go through with these changes (escape vehicle) and then you then you mention an anti-RP reason (offering ride to opposite faction) not to go through with them either. Personally I feel the opposite faction is a darn good reason not to be able to offer ride. Opposite factions shouldn't even be able to hunt in one group as far as I'm concearned. That's what makes them opposite.

The main reason they are changing the /offerride rules is however to prefent people from being able to "spam" /offerrides as happens a lot in Jedi vs BH fights where the friends of either of the fighters "spam" the oponent with /offerrides and thus making it next to impossible for this person to defend himself. Stupid rules like this are only becouse some people seem to have the need to exploit or abuse a lot of the nice things in game. Abuse is also the reason why the NPC Actors will be taken out of game. As long as the player base is not gonna grow up, things like this will continue to happen. Instead of punishing the abusing players SOE prefers to punish the entire playerbase.

I really didn't know there was a problem with spamming /offerride to lag people.

Having said that, limitations on riding are going to bog the game down more, IMO. If you really want to go all the way make rebels and imperials unable to converse with each other unless on leave!

Just seems like overboard response to a problem that could be solved by the same limitation that merchants have when creating vendors. You can only do one at a time and trying to spam it gives you error messages.

I suspect they put this in due to griefing, where people could spam each other with ride offers in combat (or otherwise). So, of course, instead of just giving us the ability to toggle that on and off, the have to go and rewrite the entire system.

Someone at SOE needs to learn the KISS rule.
