Garvin, I think we are gonna have to agree to disagree. We're not going to change each others thinking or viewpoint on this.
Agreed...I'm actually fine either way this comes out personally (mainly because my Alt is a Master Artisan)...It's just my job to make sure my Combat Profession is represented...Just like it's Guru's job to represent popular opinion of his Community (which I thinkGuru isdoing a FANTASTIC JOB!!!I and other Correspondents wouldn't have even known about this thread subject if Guru didn't make sure the Devs knew about it...I'd bet they are lurking a lot in the Artisan forum thanks to Guru's hard work)
I really respect your view points and the way you've expressed them...much appreciated...even though we disagree, I respect you very much...

another profession with absolutly NADA invested in any type of crafter skill getting upset about his "profit" loss should this happen.
That other cat is talking bout' having your cake and eating it too. Cmd to kill, novice medic to heal yourself, all the resources you can mine!
Fact: my bro is a MBH. absolutly no crafter skill at all. Has 2 houses and 8 harvs. Drop a harv, turn it on, wait 30 seconds, retrieve resources, examine, Oh look!! A great Aluminum!! No survey needed. Good money made.
Again a big YES.
Ropik-
Read the sig. You know, the part that says MASTER DOCTOR. The profession that CRAFTS medicines.
Reading comprehension is good for you. Try it sometime.

Garvin,
It's sometimes hard for me to follow your posts because the things I wrote aren't separated from the things you wrote. Of course I remember what I wrote.
I was talking about Artisans as Artisans and not as members of an elite crafting profession when I was saying that we usually don't buy many resources. Of course the elite crafters do. The current system means they don't know when the next spawn of xxxx resource needed to make yyyy item will be. So they must stock up. (Of course their stocking up means that the very best items stay around and available for longer. I don't necessarily think it would be a bad thing if the average weapon or armor didn't meet today's standards due to lack of "the best" resources.)
The prices on "the best" items will of course go up. But given the stockpiles currently existing with respect to "grinding quality" resources, I think it will be a long time before you have a shortage of average-quality items. (Average in the sense of what I presuppose the devs to have originally intended for the game, though I might be wrong.)
I don't mind your supplementing your income by making an investment. But I don't see the analogy between investing in the RW and actively mining resources using complex machinery you don't have any skills relating to in the SWG world. It's not as if you're investing in a mining company. You're running the machine yourself.
You seem to want to separate the artisan part of a toon with the rest of the toon.
The downside to harvestor certs is that a 4004 artisan would probably not be able to use heavy harvs. That is a downside. However slight it may be, they are an artisan and now they have been nerfed. You can't include just masters in the group of artisans. I can become an armorsmith with 0044 and just make PSGs. I would be nerfed if the MK3 was put at master armorsmith and all other 0044 armorsmiths would be as well.
You can't separate artisan from the rest of your character. If all you did was harvest resources and sell them on a vendor then there would be no downside assuming you were a master artisan. The instant you go out and buy anything that you don't make or buy a single unit of a creature harvested material the issue affects you and it is a downside. Certs on harvestors would raise prices on everything with the possible exception for artisan items. Therefore the combat prof needs to sell their meat for more, the weaponsmith needs to sell their guns for more, etc...
This poll is basically asking if Master Artisans want to become miners. Theres nothing wrong with asking the idea, but that is a complete switch from what I look at as a crafting profession.
