Where can you place them....seems that everytime I attempt to place one I get the Big RED grid.

Any info available on Harvester Related Rules?

Has to be a flat spot. No sharp hills or cliffs. It can't be blocked by other structures. I think things like trees and rocks can impede in some cases.

Here's my lame and lazy wind gen setup. Find an existing operating wind plantation (at least a half dozen units) and look for an open spot thats relatively level. There is safety in numbers! On my server outside Bestine there is a big farm with over 100 harvestors, including about 10-15% wind gens. Don't setup near towns. There are alot of mission spawns there and the last thing you want as a novice artisan is some red thugs camped right next to your profit center.

Sorry I'm new but I have a few quick questions. Do you need to pay maintenance fees for a wind generator? Are there any other things that I should know about them? ... I bought my first deed today and want to give it a try tomorrow

Thanks.

Yes... they cost you 30 cr/halfhour (some says it is 30cf/hour). Thats the only maintence with the wind-generator.

Wind generators need a resource specified? ... do they mine resorces?

lol sorry man I should just stick to using my blaster instead of a crafting kit.

Yeah it's kind of silly...

They only harvest wind energy (which is a liquid lol) but there are different kinds of wind, each with a funky name. When you go to specify a resource there will only be one, whatever the current wind is called. When it shifts though the wind has a new name, so you need to change the resource.

No you just have to pay maint. and specify a resource type, then turn it on. It's 1200 credits a day to keep it running, which is a lot more than a mineral harvester but it will yield a lot more than 1200 credits worth of wind.

I've read where people grind through Eng III and IV crafting these, but I can't find them on my schematics or data pad. Am I overlooking something or am I just slow?

There are available at Engineering 3. They are under the installations tab and I believe are available from General and Weapon crafting tools.

Make sure you have a "Weapon, Droid, and General Crafting Tool" and are standing next to a Weapon, Droid, and General Crafting station.
