Thread: 3 stat-boost power-ups...
I haven't heard anybody else mention this, soI wanted to ask about it.
I've made a few weapon power-ups that boost three stats instead of just two. I've experimented some up to 93% (experiment bonus, not stat bonus, and only when I get an amazing success on the experiment), but the ones that came up with three stats were lower than that, I think. I'm not sure, because I didn't notice they had 3 bonuses until I was done crafting for that session.
Hopefully this isn't too much of a repeat question, I was just wondering if anyone can give me insight to what gives you a better chance of getting these?
So far I have only done it on a muzzle and two stocks. I'm wondering if the higher complexity has anything to do with it.
Aren't the secondary and tertiary stat boosts really wimpy though? I always end up with like +6% speed and +4% wound chance or junk like that.
True, the stats weren't all that great IIRC, but the secondary stat usually isn't all that impressive anyway.
I was thinking of it more as a novelty type thing than a *BEST POWER-UP EVER* thing. ![]()
And they sell for crazy cash even with weak secondary and tertiary stats. ![]()
Yeah, I've seen quite a few of these and it always seems like the primary attribute was at it's highest level (normally around 32% for mine) and instead of a 16% secondary, I'd get a 10 and a 6.
I don't know if that's better or not because it doesn't seem like 6% of anything - unless it's Max Damage on a 300+ max damage gun - would amount to much of anything.
Yeah, I don't really think they're very desirable really. As the guy above pointed out, 6% is precisely negligable.
I think they just randomly pop up if your powerups are a high enough quality. I don't know of anything that raises the chances of getting them.
I don't usually do powerups, but I played around last night and with Amazing Success, the highest I got was 2 stats with 24% on primary and 12% on secondary. My resources were both around 900OQ but I can't recall the rest of their properties. Is is all about the resources? or is it about the Experimentation % on the crafting tool? the level of the crafter? or a combination ? I see the 30% powerups out there alot . . .

I was making powerups that with two great successes on experimentation pumped the effectiveness up to 87%. (five points first experiment, four points second experiment)
I made myself a new tool and experimented it's experimental success up to 92%.
Making a power-up with that using the same materials and methodsasI was using before yields a 92% effectiveness with 2 great successes.
Tool quality does matter.

Obviously it is partially random. My question was if there was a way to influence it. Many things in the game are random, but you can do things to tilt the odds a bitin your favor.
If there is nothing you can do to tilt it, where did you get that information, and what have you done to confirm it?
WhenI first started out,I had people telling me that the quality of a CDEF was random. Some brief experimentation showed me that they were wrong. They just didn't understand the process of using higher quality materials and tools.
I'm not saying that you are wrong, I'm just asking how you can be sure.
People who told you CDEF quality was random obviously didn't know what they were talking about.
I think the manual details this.
The manual, and everything else, is silent on this though. How would you influence it? I don't see how.
It's most likely completely random. Nothing else suggests otherwise.

... exactly why I was asking the question. I couldn't find anything on it, but I'm not content to just shrug it off as random without trying to figure it out.
I think maybe itistotallyrandom, but I'm wondering if the randomization is influenced by skill level or something like that? Do Master Artisans get these results more often then "mere" Engineers? Do you have to make Engineer before it happens? Can you get three boostson something that has only been experimented up to 80%? 75%? 50%?
I'll start keeping stats and let everyone know whatI find out.
