Create a macro with these lines:

/say Buy my stuff!!;
/pause 60;
/macro Advertise;

Two rules are the commands are preceeded with the slash symbol / (not backslash \) and all lines must end with the semicolon ; (not the colon.

You can replace /say with /shout or /yell. The pause is in seconds and adjust as necessary. The name of the macro is "advertise" (without the quotes) so the last line simply loops or repeats the macro.

keep the pause at least 30 second intervals...less than 30 seconds is way too overwhelming and drowns you out

lots of people will put you on ignore just for doing this as well just so you know

30 secs? I never tell anyone to do less then 2min

anyone spamming every 30secs gets reported for spatial flooding in my book.

Ani's right on this one. 30 seconds is too fast, in my opinion. They may ban you if you're less than 30 seconds or something, but that doesn't mean it's where you should set your macro. As a point of reference, the spambots used by high level merchants have a non-adjustable repeat time of 60 seconds.

can't say i disagree ... my ads are on 60 sec timers

that doesn't change the fact that 30 seconds is the official limit

I /addignore all spammers. All of them, with no exceptions.

Your prices speak for themselves. I'm sure I've bought from spammer's vendors, but to me it's about the high quality and low price, which I find not by wading through the fifteen /shout's outside of the Theed starport, but by using the bazaar. Since we can do vendor searches of the whole galaxy, what is the point of filling everyone's spatial with fifteen lines of nonesense? If someone wants your product, they can find it easily on the bazaar.

I'm not be snarky, I really would like to understand a spammer's mindset. My guild, which consists mostly of entertainers, is opposed to spamming. You can be kicked for it. So what I'm saying is--it's not just me.

For every customer you gain, you probably lose 2 because of the annoyance spamming causes. I personally don't boycott spammer's vendors, but I know people who do.

And another who is happy to add people to the ignore list for AFKspamming. Just don't do it.

Edit - added AFK, I don't really mind spamming if you are there to talk about your products to a customer.

Same here, I've added tons of people to ignore list everytime I go to starter city or Dantooine mining outpost.

Yeah, I think I have 4 or 5 persons on /addignore for being fools, the rest are all crafter/ent/guild and city recruiter spammers. I probably have well over 50 people on each char ignored because of this. Everyone I see goes on ignore and I usually don't even read their msg's.

I have so many people on ignore that my client lags whenever I access my ignore list my sanity (or what's left of it) comes first, you know?

if their shop is that great they wouldn't need to spam, especially with the new vendor search system.

Some items don't have categories though. Lightsaber resource kits, for instance. When I started my shop in May 2004, I had to spam a little to get it started. There wasn't another way. I did try to make the spam more tolerable though, by repeating it infrequently, and making the spam messages humorous. Now I have over 1000 jedi customers, and almost all of the jedi on my server know of my shop. Word of mouth is all I need.

But someone starting a shop to compete with mine on my server would need to spam in some way or another. There's no good way for random people to find a shop like this. And honestly, my shop is too well known - even if someone came in at half the price of mine, word of mouth would probably only win over about 5%-10% of my customers. If they did a good job of spamming that they had a shop like mine, but at half the price, they'd probably be successful. Spam would not only be a successful tool for them, but possibly the only really successful tool.
