Thread: Get paid to survey ISS v2

If you are a surveyor: you can make your resource locations available to the entire server for purchase with just a few clicks. If you publish resource data to swgcraft, don't stop there... Add in your resource locations to iss, and get paid for your work. You can set your own prices, handle payments, and view the entire server's current resource listings with deposits. Start by creating a user account, and you will be given links to add locations when viewing a resource.

If you are a mining company: You can track resources, and view the concentrations server wide in a single place. Find a location you want to mine and buy the coordinates from the surveyor. Features that will be added soon are email alarms for resources you are looking for, or harvesting, and a more complete profession based resource hit list.

The site is up for testing and development now. Itwill be in full production once the interface is revised, and all the new features are added (hopefully later this month).

www.swg-iss.com - powered by swgcraft.com

If you would like to see any features that are not there, please respond to this post with your suggestions. The goal is to make an open easy to use place for people to find survey and resource data.

"ISS also accepts star wars galaxies credits. All payments must be recieved before the coordiantes are given."

How do you plan to solve this? Do you have a surveyor on each server?

Each purchase of a deposit will go directly to the person that located it.

After receiving the tip, the surveyor would give out the coords.

Please explain this service a bit more. If I understand it correctly I put wp of resource on your database. then someone can purchase that wp for in game credits. Also if someone subscribes monthly they have access to the waypoints in the database.

Does that mean that the waypoint that I'm selling on your site you are also giving to users that subscribe?

If anyone is a real miner they can survey themselves. Im completely devoted to swgcraft.com, but why shouldanyone pay a middleman to do split up the normal mining process? I do understand the importants of getting notified about resource spawns, but i can just check craft.com and thats free.

Hey whirlwind...

Yes, anyone that wants to pay in game credits goes directly to you. You get 100% of it.

Anyone that has a monthly account can access all the resource deposits in the database.

Basically, this allows us to have a way to pay for our server and bandwidth, while providing a valuable service to other surveyors and mining companies.

We do plan on having some sort of cash incentive program for surveyors to get paid by how many resources they locate. But, this can only happen once we break even with our hosting and bandwidth costs.

Hi Jnath!

Thanks for your comments.

While I agree that most mining companies do survey for themselves... Sometimes, it is more cost effective to pay for a pre-surveyed location, and get harvesters on it quickly, than it is to start looking for a location. For example, we have a power company on wanderhome that has 80+ Fusions. They would pay 50k on the day of the shift for a 90% spot. For them, they would make more money by getting on a great spot quickly than blindly looking for one themselves.

The resource locations have value. People will (and do) pay to have access to this information. On wanderhome, we had several surveyors working for us, and built a customer base quickly. Many of our customers did not have survey skills, but wanted high percentage concentrations of rare/godly resources. Now, we are opening our code and database to other servers and surveyors.

ISS only acts as a middleman in the sense that we are connecting buyers to sellers. If someone buys a resource location from you, the money goes directly to you. We don't take a percentage of it. The only thing we charge for is our monthly account, which helps us to pay for our hosting and bandwidth. As a surveyor, you do not need a monthly account, just a regular (free) user account. It benefits you to post your locations, because they are immediately visible to potential buyers.

While we could not provide this service without the resource feed from swgcraft.com, we are aiming to go beyond swgcraft inseveral ways.Obviously, we are providing access to resource locations, but we also want to be a place for crafters to manage thier resource listings and needs. We will beproviding customizable email alerts when resources spawn and despawn, and when resource locations are made available. We will be integrating a resources wanted list that on a single page can show all the resources you are currently looking for, and what is available. These things are not implemented yet, but are in the works.

We are very interested in what people would like to see from the site, and how we can help the surveyors to make money easily.

Thanks again for your input!

Hi tac,

Forgive me i didn't mean to sound like the typical disenter in these boards (tac u suxxor). Just a businessman looking to keep costs down. But you seem to have sold it to me a bit better with your reply, or maybe its cuz its after lunch here now and im in a better mood. Regardless ill have to consider it. I see your role as middleman in a fairer light now.

My next question would be: As a full service mining company, i should be able to break even then, wont i? Offering the survey results against purchasing the info. And correct me if im wrong here. Since harvesting will take time, i should be able to survey more and actually pull in some creds (given time and commitment), yes?

Whrlwnd, Yes. All resource locations are available to users that subscribe. In our experience on wanderhome, the impact of this is slim to none, as the subscribers have access to a vast listing of locations, and generally choose ones that are close to them, or very high percentages.

Hey Jnath

No apology neccesary.

I'm not sure I fully understand your question, but yes, you should be able to pull profits easily by posting locations... since there is no cost to surveying (other than vechicle maintenance, and time) all purchases are near 100% profit. Also, for great spots, multiple customers will pay for the same location.

Since you already submit data to swgcraft, it is another (small) step to start generating income from work you are already doing. Granted, you don't need to scour the planets for swgcraft listings, you can mostly do it all from the starport.

Please keep me posted on any bugs or problems you find with the site, as it is still in development. We hope to have an official launch later this month.
