If you can place a droid in your inventory (datapad) and recharge the droid's power, what's the purpose of even having droid batteries as a craftable item?

when a droid runs out of battery power it stops following commands, or working period regardless of HAM,

I don't have any droids other than medical, but many of my friends who took advantage of the old droid exploit were buying batteries of me like crazy,

guess the changed the droid heal by store deal anyway

It would be a nice re-newables commodity market for Artisans if they were actually necessary for Droid operation though. As it is, droid's low on power... simply slap it into inventory for a little while during your trip to or from a mission and when you pull it back out, it'll be ready and charged. Just kinda defeats the purpose of having batteries around.

One thing I found frustrating was the lack of truly useful items that could be crafted by the novice artisan. Being able to make needed items like droid batteries or some of the smuggler tools would do a couple of things. Give the novice a viable marketplace and give the smiths more time to craft the other items.

I always thought the "novice" and "apprentice" would have fit in nicely with crafting professions if taken a bit further. An artisan could expiriment and craft to the point where they could produce a good sub-component schematic for their "mentor" elite craftsman. The craftsman could then use that schematic in their factories. As it stands, powerups are the only truly useful item that are produced by artisans alone and unfortunately, when most combat types get their hand cannons, they aren't really interested in powerups. This could change with some help from the elite craftsman.

Something like a droid battery market could really help pay the bills for those trying to make that huge jump in xp from Engineer to an elite craftsman. Not just batteries specifically but a resource that must be replaced but is not cost effective for the top tier to produce.

Droids can not be called unless in a city, house or camp. If you are dragging your trusty Pro-bot around whacking stuff and it runs out of power, you just slap a new battery in.

Jedi will be rare and difficult - No
Increased Dev communication - No
CU will balance combat - No
Most of the bugs from launch fixed - No
saintchuck will continue to pay - No

- I supported the CURB, the Devs and the attempt to make SWG a better game and have realized it didn't work so I'm quitting in less than 2 days and won't be tricked into coming back again. Trick me once, shame on you...

If you're using a droid to store items then storing a droid to recharge it will cause these items to be lost - another situation where batteries are essential

I believe the 'store to heal' isue with droids will soon be fixed (if not already) thus making battery use mandatory

Even though I own a droid I do hope your right about the store and recharging Ash. It would be nice if novice artisans had a viable place in the economy, as it is now they really don't have much to create of notable worth, especially in the renewables market, like batteries, or ammo if it was needed, etc...

I sell nearly everything I can make. Fireworks sell. General crafting tools and other crafting tools I sell quite a bit of. Repair tools sell. You are right about batteries, I havne't sold many of these yet. I sell quite a bit of food. I've sold some clothes. I do sell powerups. I've even sold a few weapons. I've even sold some fiberplast panels. I've found the artisan very diverse. Hopefully as time goes by they will get even more useful items.

After the fix to insta-heal in the datapad, recharging a droid is the only way to heal it's mind wounds.

I've had my droid incapped a few times, but his mind bar is still full blue. How do droids get mind wounds that a battery recharge can heal? So far any time my droid's been busted up I just let it heal, pop it into the datapad a while and when I'm ready to use it again it's as if it were brand new.

Anyone other than the poster above ever had a droid get mind wounds, and if so how'd it get them?

I am a droid engineer. I use my probot to gaurd me while I go out to check my harvestors. It is common for me to get jumped by the bandits outside the citys. Since my probot is on gaurd, he attacks those that attack me. My little probot buddy and I have had our share of skirmishes and he has come out with not only his mind but the rest of his HAM lowered. The batteries repair the mind damage. So yes the batteries are usefull and serve a purpose.

I sell a droid batteries on a regular basis. I price them by the size of the stack. Seems to work well.
