Ok ... hopefully these do not sound like dumb questions. I am a Marksman who needs a break and wants to play at crafting. I don't know much about harvesters, but i can make a wind harvester.

Now.. what do wind harvesters produce ? energy right?

Is the energy sellable? as in is there a demand for it?

Well only 2 silly questions... please lemme know

It produces wind energy. You can sell the energy, but you have to pay maint. fees on the harvester to keep it running, so unless you find a pretty high concentration, you won't be able to sell it at a fair price. (Fair enough to get anyone to buy it as opposed to getting their own)

Hmm .. do i need the energy to run other harvesters?

Maybe i will just buy a mineral harvester.

Yes you need the Wind energy to power other Harvesters, so if you own a Personal Mineral Harvester, you probably want to place a Wind Harvester also.

But then you have to pay for the upkeep of 2 harvesters!

The Wind harvester does not need power to run though, just credits. About 900 or so a day.

You can use wind energy, or radioactives to run the other harvesters. (or solar energy, maybe nuclear?) There are a few different higher up power generators if I remember right...

ok .. one last silly question ... how often do you need to check these things. I hear so much mention of Maint. costs. Do i need to stand beside the thing and drop quarters in or is once a day visiting enuf?

It depends on how much money you have to put into it. I put 600 creds into my Wind harvester last night and it showed that it was enough to keep it going for 21 hours. I put 300 into my mineral extractor and it shows enough for 22 hours.

It really depends on how much money you've got to spend and how long you need to be away before coming back to refill it.

If you let the maintenance lapse and the generator falls to ill repair, it is VERY expensive to fix!

All depends on how much you put in. You can drop 5K on it and leave for a week. The only problem is that if the resource runs dry on your planet 20 mins after dropping the harvester, you're out of luck. The hopper shouldn't fill up until about 25K units, if I remember right. Adecent deposit will get you about 2K resources per day...

It depends on how many quarters you dropped in it the first time. It's taken a few days (and the help of a friend or 2), but we've got the harvesters stocked with a couple of days' maintenance fees and power. I'm going to fill that sucker up so that it could rundays or a weekwithout me touching it and when I go back, it will be filled to the brim (unless it dries up - uh-oh)

What is a good percentage % to look for when surveying wind for a harvester?

If you can build a wind generator, then you can build a mineral extractor but you need a struction tool wich you can make.

So i've gotten tired of surveying for 7 units at a time and am going to build a harvestor. I have the deed for it and am out trying to place it and it says building not permitted here. What does that mean? I'm outsdie the 1k meter zone of the city.

After reading this I have to also put a wind generator next to it for power?
