... it's completely selfish, but here goes...
With my 4 accounts mining (and I really do love the mining game), I can generate enough resources to bring in between 10 & 15 mil a week. Let's say 10 mil a week for arguments sake. Now that's at the ripe low price of about 3cpu.
I firmly believe that resource prices could jump 10-fold if certs are implemented. Let's be conservative and say they double. That's 6 cpu or 20 mil a week.
It only takes me about 4 hours per week to do this, and that would change not one iota undera cert impelementation.
Now I can create 8 characters per account, so I can basically do this on 8 servers. But let's say that someday I might want to be Jedi so call it 7 servers. 7 servers, 20 mil a week, 140 mil a week.
Now let's do some research, and here's where it gets *really* greedy...
Take a look on Google for "SWG Credit". You'll find that there are several organizations who buy & sell credits in SWG. (Yes, this is against TOS, but they boast tens of thousands of transactions so SOE must not yet be cracking down.) When you look at those sites you'll see that they sell credits for $20/mil and buy them for $12/mil.
That means that, with the cert system in place, I could generate an income of $87,360 to $140,000 just for "working" 28 hours per week.
Hmm... I could retire and just play SWG!
(Before you get all flamey with me, no, I'm not serious. I still don't like the idea of certs.)

Is that all you can say about that entire post? Whining about your lack of understanding of mining in SWG?
Weak.

Dude... i think the "greedy" was already started prior to you random thought (10-15 mil a week christ)......
so you cross server trade lots? and play a mining game....
I think at this point I will keep my thoughts to myself..... best not to get myself in trouble here....

Aww.... you should share.
Why is it greedy to bring in 10 mil a week mining? I'm charging reasonable prices for the resources I mine. Am I supposed to give them away? If so, then how about you come on over to Naritus and /tip me 10 mil? Same concept.
Cross-server lot trades? No.
Anyway, look over this again. It's an argument *against* certs...

OK, but I'll say it again, just to be perfectly, crystal clear. This post is not advocating forx-server lot trades. I am not advocating for and will never advocate for x-server lot trades.
This post is talking about establishing characters on 7 different servers and setting up mining operations on each of those servers in order to maximize the potential for IRL cash gaingenerated whenplaying SWG. More specifically, it's about how implementing harvester certifications amplifies the profit potential inherent to the concept.
I've posted elsewhere about how harvester certs will amplify the practice of x-server lot trades as well...

This would work for a couple of weeks. Then the game market for metal would be so saturated that you'd have to sell for less and less each week. Also, the resellers must have a cap on the number of credits that they can buy. They've got a limmitted market they can sell to. If you allow them to meet their quota, they're gonna stop buying from you until they can unload the old credits first. It wouldn't make sense for them to buy tens of millions in credits if they can only unload a few million of them in the near future.
I think you've got a decent scam here. I just think the economics would break down after a few weeks. If you used ebay instead of the resellers you might be able to do this for a couple of months but then you might open yourself up to reprisal from SOE, if they ever wind up trying to stop it (probably not - it would cost them a ton).

i know a few people who sell credits for rl money but they made their money on rare loot drops (krayt pearls and the like), borgle cave camping for clothing attachments,or multiple high end crafting characters (ok i only know one of these).
stupid i know, but its been done apparently.
not sure you can make millions selling resources so much anymore, i ran out of duralloy steel and went hunting for it...damn there's alot of empty vendors out there. people seem to be quitting the mining game...market isslowly disappearingmaybe?
but hey advocating change for purely selfish reasons...i'm all for it. rock and roll! lol
