Thread: I make/sell Swoops ... is there demand for Landspeeders/Speederbikes?

I currently make and sell swoops as a sideline to my main business (manufacturing buffs).

I haven't bothered making X34-landspeeders or speederbikes (i think i've got the names right) as I couldn't be bothered handing different production runs. However, now that I am thinking of expanding the business and manufacturing those, i was wondering if I could tap into the experience of other vehicle manufacturers.

If you are a vehicle manufacturer, what is the breakdown of sales for the various types of vehicls on your vendor?

eg 75% swoops; 10% speederbikes; 15% landspeeder?

Basiccally I'm trying to determine if there is much demand for non-Swoop vehicles (the vast majority of people that I see travelling around are riding swoops).

Hey,

My ratio is 4 : 2 : 2, Swoops : Speederbikes : X-34

Personally, I use speederbikes. Nice compromise between speed and terrain neg. But that's me.

Take care,

Guru

I haven't sold many speeders and I was told buy a friend that most people want swoops. However, if you sell the speeders for 10k each and open up near Mos Eisley (That the right name?) then it gives all the new people a chance to own a bike.

Swoops are my biggest seller... landspeeders i sell farily cheaply (10k Atm, affordable for the new player looking to get started..... often I just give them alway to the random "nice" newb I meet on the running in the wilds.....

As for speederbikes.... they sell ok, enough to break even on anyway....

I sell all three lines of vehicles. The quality % is what is most important to my customers. I just finished a factory run of 60 basic Landspeeders and starting on one of swoops. The key is variety. Offer differing qualities of all vehicles and you will hit everyone.

The beauty about landspeeders is that they are more cost effective. They decrease by 15 points instead of 25 and therefore last a lot longer between repairs. There is a market for them among those that are more frugal with their money.

Swoops have their uses, but I dont' know why everyone thinks they are so great. The terrain negotiation is annoyingly bad and they are useless to me on long hunts as they wear out so incredibly fast. For me, speederbike is the workhorse for missions. While the swoop gets the fancy paint job to match my civilian clothes and is used for bopping around town or the quick jaunt to the next town when shopping for resources, etc. If I had to pick one, it'd be speederbike. Though I feel I'm in the minority on that.

I like X34s for Dathomir ... place is so hilly they can pretty much keep up with Swoops, & of courdr outlast them. Too, with the NS eating vehicles these days, I like the X34 as it is more likely to survive an NS taking a chunk out of it.

I sell more swoops overall. They have a higher decay rate and are the most likely to die in the field. Most people that buy from will pick up two at a time. The other two sell less than half the time. So, if you want to minimize your overhead I would recommend making 10-20 of each and see how fast they go. I made 100 of each and put them all on my vendor. The swoops are selling out the fastest. Based on my observations you would want to keep this ratio swoops/speeder/x34 50/20/10.

Good luck

I gotta agree with you on that. With my combat character, I use the speederbike nearly exclusively.

A swoop on Dathomir can be downright fatal as it nearly stops going up the side of one of those lovely valleys.

I would use the speederbike if it wasn't for the fact that the sound of them gets old... quick.

Oh and one more thing. Have you guys ever seen those sigs that are lines of text and look like they are a part of the post?

Haha yeah it would be great if the vehicles in SWG sounded like the ones in the movies

But seriously you'd be shooting yourself in the foot if you didn't enter the Speederbike and Landspeeder market.

I generally stick to a 3 : 2 : 1 - Swoop : Speederbike : Landspeeder ratio, but when Icome acrossa really high SR steel i will usually save it all for a nice Swoop factory run. So perhaps 4 : 2 :1 would be more accurate. I guess I should really pay more attention to my statistics, but who has the time?

I agree that Swoops are overrated compared to the Speederbike. They wear out quite quickly. Perhaps that they are more expensive or use more resources leads people to believe that they are the better vehicle, when they are perhaps not.

Having said that, I still prefer a Swoop, don't know why - I guess I grew attached to the 96% Swoop that has served me well for so long
