Why was harvester animation killed 2-3 months ago? I am very surprised that it has not returned, and have not been lucky in finding any info on this in the forums.

It was killed on mistake when they changed them to include Architect Experiment bonuses. They just have never gotten around to fixing it, although they said way back then that it was on their list.

I think they killed it to improve preformance but that's just me, always looking for a conspiracy. If I'm not seen in the next few days then you'll know I was right. I gotta go.

I have to agree with ya on the conspiracy theory. Like to cut down on rendering time and lag.....wait....someone's knocking at the door.

They need to return it. That is the way I know if there was a resource shift. I going by my harvesters and not know what is going on with them.

Belive it or not that little deal is what is steering me from the game. not so much that its been broke. but for how long it has been broken. i can see one month til the next patch. but come on...over three months now?


This is what makes me seriously wonder what happens with other things that are alot more important. than this simply animation. Even if it was redesign to not move. would of been fine. but to simply ignore it and do nothing. say nothing. truly bugs me.

It's actually kinf of convenient to have them stone still. When I visit each harvester I flick it off and on to refresh the power readout, and that has the effect of starting the animation again. I know that the ones that are animating are the ones I have tended to. It helps in a field of 14 harvesters...

I use my survey tool. If the resource I'm mining is suddenly off the list, I know I need to get out to my harvs.

This would have nothing to do with "lag" as the rendering of the animation is all done client side. All it has to do is send you a small packet (you are receivign packets like this all the time anyway) that says the harvester is currently harvesting and should render the animation. Now whether they thought it would help all those people with the slower video cards ....

Fine if its a client side thing for slower vid cards give me the option to turn it off or on in the option menu, some of us don't have slow comps or slow cards. My new box is 3giger with 2gigs ram and a gforcefx 5950

This bothers me too. Not too big of a [rpblem, but rather annoying. I'd like to think that the animation has a purpose.
