Thinking about the upgrade. I just bought SWG a week ago and sorta diggin the game. Haven't gotten to far in the grind yet, probably why I am still digging it...
Is the JtL upgrade worth the extra 30 bucks?
30 bucks is a good deal for the original where you get this vast world(s) and many characters to start with... JtL it seems only has 2 new char's...
Can someone sell me on the idea?

i find JTL an easy way to grind out some quick credits for those who are not combat masters. So, for a crafter, yeah, it helps, and is a good distraction.
But then again, i love SW so, i had to get JTL and some major credits to support an expensive profession.

Let me tell you, just the ability to fly anywhere from anywhere is worth the 30 bucks. Especially if you harvest your own resources. It's so useful I quickly baught it for my other 2 accounts a day after live. But I'm also the kind of idiot that would rather by another account instead of moving to another server for different content.

It is worth the 30 bucks just to avoid all the shuttle/ticket BS to travel between planets. I even use my ship to travel between starports on the same planet.

TBH, I refuse to buy it on sheer principle. If they are not fixing the bugs I've been paying for for over a year, why on earth should I throw more money at them? If I bought a shiny new car and the gearbox didn't work, I wouldn't be back to buy the aluminium wheel trim before they'd fixed the gearbox. Would you?

No, but I would by NOS for it to go faster.

Bought two copies for both accounts. Is it worth it? Depends. It was fun for a while but soon grew repetitive. If space was bigger with more opportunities for pirating (like robbing cargo shipments that actually appear in your cargo hold), mining asteroids, docking and walking around space stations etc, then it would have been brilliant. As it is, fun for a while but ultimately another cash cow for SOE.

Oh yes, well worth it. I launched my yacht last night just to grind in, because it was so laggy on the ground.

Now if I went out and purchased the upgrade, do I automatically get a ship?
I've been reading about the yachts that come with playing for 6 months, I've only been playing a week.
Would I have to buy a starship? I can barely afford maintenence on my measly harvestors...

All you need to travel is a novice pilotcrafted ship with a reactor and an engine. Which can probably be bought on the bazaar, any engine and any reactor will get you anywhere.
