adding yet one more tool that i have to basically pay regular maintenance on is just a horrible idea IMHO in this case my guns
if you are concerned about what to make at master artisan level, there are people in the elite professions that, to save skill points, do not have master artisan. this is the money maker for you, droid engineers and weaponsmiths need control units and the like, for example. and with the end of the vehicle fix bug, i've noticed more unfixable disabled vehicles around so selling those should be easier.
well, one this is not whining .. but weapon CONDITION amounts to the same thing as an "energy pack" ie no weapon last forever and a weapon repair tool could be essentially RECHARGING

They should last longer than powerups, 500 uses or more. They should be low resource cost, so artisan don't charge an outrageous price.

I set up factories, as an MA, and pump out 1000 unit runs of the MA components to sell on my vendors (with the exception of the MSS, which requires other components of an MA). You'd be surprised how fast they sell to AS's and DE's, since they don't have to waste time pumping them out themselves (typically, the runs take 24+hours).
Power-ups also sell like hot-cakes, just do your homework as to what your customer is going to want. Riflemen are looking to lower mind costs, carabiners action, etc. Pumping out Powerups that increase wounds and range mods isn't a very good idea....
so why not get rid of condition for weapons and give it a magazine capacity rating? power packs for blasters, kinetic rounds for kinetric weapons, etc.....
To keep usage of the weapon you nee dto buy ammo for it.
I'm sure weaponsmiths would be thrilled with this idea
Weapons are the provice of weaponsmiths, we dont get a look in or a say about them, we don't make 1337 weapons so we shouldn't be talking about nurfing weaponsmiths (and that is what this would amount to)
As for artisan being usless, I'm making millions selling AV-21's thatI collect the powerplants for myself
