Thread: Fair Price for 100 Hides
ok - I know this is going to get a varied response, depending on quality, server, and Planet location. (probably)
That being said what would you pay for 100 Hides?
Normal Quality..... and Exceptional Quality.
Since the economy is still in it's infancy, it's hard to tell what the market value of anything might be. What I've found for my crafted weapons and powerups is I put them on the bazaar at a relatively low price, and see how fast it sells. If I get an email notifying me of a sale before I can move away from the bazaar terminal, I know that my items is highly desired and probably under-priced. I just keep inching the prices up on the next items until I find a spot where they still sell relatively quickly, but I'm making a decent profit for the resources and time involved to make the item.
Keep in mind that 100 hides doesn't go very far in tailoring. To make a single bone armor breastplate would take most of that stack of 100 hides. Whoever buys your hides has to figure in his cost for those hides into his final product. You're the bottom of the supply chain for finished goods. People won't pay 3,000 credits for a single piece of bone armor because credits are so difficult to come by right now.
I would expect to pay not more than 1 or 2 credits for any type of commonly available resource, otherwise my finished products would be so expensive no one could afford to buy them.
I'd gladly pay 3 credits per resource for hide and bone. I have people willing to pay 2000 for the simpler bone armors, but I can't find enough bone and hide to keep me in supply.
If supply starts to overcome my need, I'll probably settle on 2 credits per resource unit.
"People won't pay 3,000 credits for a single piece of bone armor because credits are so difficult to come by right now."
3,000 credits is NOT difficult to come by. What's sad is how many people are so lazy that they're not willing to spend20 minutes to do a round trip delivery mission. I take (2) 800 credit delivery missionsbetween Theed and Moenia (4 mission total there and back). Voila, 3200 credits. The laziness is amazing. Sure, it's not very exciting to do, but it works. My apologies that Idigressed off the topic of this post.
As for the hides, I would be willing to pay what people were paying me for resources, 2 credits per item. But I would look around the bazaar and see what people are trying to sell them for and you may be able to get an idea. I do agree with one of the above posters that it will take some time for prices to settle.
Now with that off my chest, what I have done is pick up novice scout and get most of my hide and bone myself. Every once in a while some really smart person will be reasonable and accually sell it at 2cr per unit, at which point I snag it.
Those prices seem far too high, especially considering what I do asa Scouting Artisan (seems to be what I'm falling into at the moment).
Personally, I charge no more than 3 Credits per unit for whatever I have, and that is only if the item is of exceptional quality and hard to get. I imagine this will vary as resources change over time, but here's an example:
Corellian Animals on Eclipse seem to suffer from a severe sucking syndrome overall. None of their harvested resources seem to be overly good in any respect. I never charge more than 1 Credit per Unit (in the case of CorellianWooly Hides, I charge .5 credit per unit).
However, Talusian Insect Meat, more difficult to come across (easiest creature to get them from are the Mites, but in small quantities and they aren't nearly as common as some other creatures), I charge 2 Credits per Unit for. Especially since it's in demand on Corellia for some people.
Generally, here is the scale I charge per unit, and I think (personally) it's more than fair and reasonable:
Available on Planet/Common: .5 Credit
Unavailable on Planet/Common: 1 Credit
Available on Planet/Rare: 2 Credit
Unavailable on Planet/Rare: 3 Credit
Seems a fair scale to me, what do you guys think?

Absolutly, Instant sale is what you want.
So it appears that the consensus is around 2 per right now. (save fro 1 dissenting voice).
And as with UO, the price actually increases if you have bulk (no discount fro bulk - quite the opposite).
Also - you're right about those Missions. 3200 credits for 1/2 hr work(minus 400 for the return flight). Very doable. I think people just are not really sure how missions work.
Anyway - resources, resources resources..... I wonder how other many people are migrating to scout/artisan. Not many I hope!

I sold bone boots for 1.5k, helm for 2k and leggings for 3.5k last night. All sold within 20 minutes of me posting them to the bazaar ![]()
I believe that answer is yes hides and bones have different qualities that will change over time (like other resources I think organics will also run out and new ones will appear). If you examine them you'll see what their values are. Back in beta better quality materials allowed higher success in assembly if I remember correctly.
