I bought crafting stations, and some of the basic powerups. Also some just basic clothing...and I think tents

The fastest way to "grind" is to make survey tools. Chemical are the ones I usually make because they require only metal, so you only need to harvest one material, and they give 55GCXP per. So I will sit out and harvest 2k in materials and while I rest I make survey tools. You can make it even faster by making a second GC tool. While the first item is outputting you can start making the second. This works all the time and you will use it always. While I was in beta I made a weaponsmith, and the components you make later take 45sec+ to output so there's lot's of downtime if you are making them one at a time.

I have to say that I started doing the whole tool kit thing and then I got this tip....do it with barrels. You know the ones...the ranged weapon power up.
I was sitting there dumping 30 resources into the weapon or the armor tool kit and getting like 55 XP for it. Barrels take 10 resources (6 metal and 4 chemical ), and you get like 40 XP for it. Much less resources which means less mining and gathering. I also use the double resource kit method...it makes the crafting XP go up much faster.

The only problem with that is that you need to take the time to harvest chemicals. You save time by just harvesting one material. Especially if you can afford to get a harvester.

The reinforced combat staff does give a boat load of XP. I used that one. I'm starting a new character so I will have to check out the battle axe. The two crafting tools idea is fantastic - can't believe I did not think of that !!

Even better than barrels are couplers, I think they are made in 9 secs instead of the 20 secs some of the other power ups take. And it is faster making power ups (vs crafting tools) as long as you are in a good survey spot that has over 50% of steel and chem.

Some other tips.

Craft while you mine.

Run multiply crafting tools at once. I always have two going.

I’ll have to check out those staffs.

I used not only the double gc tools, but 3 and sometimes 4 depending. Trying now to get the 33000 skill pts to train novice architect. I used the power ups as well, all give 40 skill pts. Will have to check out the reinforced staff. Thanks for the tip.

Bone armor gives around 300 to 400. If only it were easier to collect the components for it
