Thread: About the Artisan State of Profession
Just because I know someone is worried that Artisans haven't had a 'State of the Profession' thread with a TH bump, I'm posting to let you all know that it's coming - I'm just waiting for the feedback loop to spit some info back my way. Since I have little to no control over the timetables, it may be a little while.
While you (and I) are waiting, feel free to write your own - or just add your comments on the current state of Artisans to this thread. I'll make sure to check back here before my final edit.
Sorry for the delay folks, but have no fear - we are gaining ground.

I have to agreeabout the Master Artisan thing. Making MA was kind of let down instead of being areal achievement. The new items that can be crafted are very specialized and not useful unless you aregoing to sell to Architects orDroid Engineers(or plan on becoming one). This could be fixed simply by giving Master Artisans some more useful things to craft. Or how about some perks? Reduced maintenance fees on extractors or something to that effect.

Master Artisan Is required to make Lances and Personal Shields, so weaponsmith and Armorsmith both require it.
How many lances do you see out there? Personal shields are just 3 items (mark 1, 2 and 3) from the AS tree, and they make enough money to buy them to be honest.
The discrepency on how each class depends on master artisan is well, disgusting. It's one of those not-well-thought-out ideas. As a DE, I need MA components for level 5 and 6 modules, seeker droids, probe droids, advanced droid brains, advanced motive systems, personality chips, and the list goes on and on and on. Some droids need a micro sensor suite even. I also need a power core from an architect for the Power Droid, and composite armor segments from an Armorsmith for Level 5 and 6 armor modules. These are manditory components, unlike the arch needing droid storage modules as an optional component for their crafting stations.
There needs to be more reliance on the Master Artisan skill from all the professions, except DE. As well, some fun items in MA would be nice... more fireworks? ![]()
Business2 Premium Auctions
You pay 5 times the normal amount to get a little white asterik...bleh insulting concidering anyone can hex code a name that is not only highlighted with color, but jumps to the top ofthe list when name sorted due to \ being before a.
I would gladly pay the 100c for preimum aution if it would put my items on the first page. As a growing weaponsmith i sell manylower endweaponson the bazzar, my sales are slaved to wether my items appear on the first page or the fourth since most all wepaons cost the cap price.
I was hoping htis was true but I have 10 "preimum" auctions on page 4 of 4 as we speak...bleh again.

...
I would love to buy some crates of ControlUnits for my weapons.. but every MA i contact says they don't make em. nor plan on making em. I guess most weaponsmiths are MA's...
Used In Schematics:
Weaponsmith - Intermediate Melee Weapons Crafting
- Lance
Weaponsmith - Advanced Firearms Crafting
- Light Weapon Mount
- Weapon Mount
Weaponsmith - Expert Firearms Crafting
- SG82 Rifle
Weaponsmith - Master Firearms Crafting
- Spraystick
Weaponsmith - Master Weaponsmith
- Tangle Pistol

My bad. However, most WS are MAs... mythought being because of weapon power ups. Having said that, do you really want me to list all the droid stuff that requires MA parts, directly or indirectly?

You are incorrect Ackis, personal shields require 6 subcomponents:
1. Power Conditioner - Master Artisan
2. Energy Distributor - Master Artisan
3. Deflector Shield Projector Plate
4. Deflector Shield Generator - Energy Ray
5. Deflector Shield Generator - Particle
6. Deflector Shield Emitter Assembly

Yes, but do items 3-6 need MA components? My post was that an Armorsmith has 3 final items that need MA parts. Earlier in the thread I think WS needed 4 MA parts, plus had 2 sub-components that may have needed MA parts (I'm not AS or WS). I'll list DE parts that directly need MA components.
- Adv. Droid Motive System (CU)
- Advanced Droid Brain (4 Identical EMM/4 Identical GP)
- Arakyd Probe Droid (EMM/GP)
- Power Droid (MSS)
- Advanced Power Droid (MSS)
- Geeky Personality Chip (3 EMM/2 GP)
- Level 3 Data Module (1 EMM)
- Level 4 Data Module (1 EMM)
- Level5 Data Module (1 GP/2 Identical EMM)
- Level 6 Data Module (1 GP/3 Identical EMM)
- Level 5 Medical Module (1 GP)
- Level 6 Medical Module (1 GP/3 Identical EMM)
- Level 5 Item Module (1 GP)
- Level 6 Item Module (1 GP/3 Identical EMM)
- Probot Advanced Chassis (1 MSS) - used to make Adv Probots
- Probot (1 MSS)
- Prissy Personality Chip (1 EMM/1 GP)
- Sarcastic Personality Chip (2 GP/1 EMM)
- Seeker Droid (2 GP/1 EMM)
- Stupid Personality Chip (1 EMM)
- Worshipful (2 GP/1 EMM)
- Droid Customization Kit (CU)
That's 22 items that REQUIRE MA components to make. If I were to extend this list to items that need these parts indirectly, I'd pretty much list everything I can make as a DE (take an R2 for example, it needs an Adv. Droid Brain, or an R3 which require two identical advanced droid brains). This list may also be missing some items.
Ackis...followed you over from the DE forums. For completion, and importance sake, you forgot all of the droids that require those parts, thus making those items also rely indirectly on MA components. I stole your list, made some minor modifications and completed it:

So, as you can see, DE's greatly rely on Master Artisan. With over half of our parts and/or droids requiring components from MA, it is almost a necessity to get the skill. And on top of that, we still rely on Armorsmiths for the Composite Armor Segment to make the wonderful armor you see on probots, as well as relying on Architects for the power core unit that goes into making the Power Droid. And what makes it even worse, is that we need factory identical MA parts, which almost all MA's that I've come across aren't willing to waste their time on. So we have to make them ourselves.
Something needs to be done to either reduce our reliance on MA, or make others more reliant on MA to make it more worthwhile to others besides ourselves.
