Hey why can't I run my Large Glasses thrua weapon factory? It's Homemaking, not Chef! I think we are getting gipped on a profitible item. It's not like basic campsites are weapons and they go thru just fine... Sure I can deed a food/chem factory, but I don't see how that implies to Artisan, in the fictional sense of crafting.

Sorry Oar, I couldn't make any sense of this.

I guess because small and large glasses are only used for drink items, the DEV's decided that they could only be run through a Food and Chemical Factory. However, if it is an Artisan Item, I think it should be able to be run through an Item Factory. But I think that some of the clothes should be able to go through an Item Factory, too, rather than using a Wearables Factory. But if someone is going to be making a Cask, they have to use a Wearables Factory, as well as a Food and Chemical Factory.

Its a new kind of logic, Dev's Logic.

Do you think they hired the same woman who programmed the "King's Quest" series, as a consultant for how resources and crafting work? Lots of little excruciating details, that seem to have no rhyme or reason.

It would have been sufficiently detailed, to just have three types of each kind of resources (like Dolovite Iron, for instance): Could have just set it up as High Quality, Good Quality, and Poor Quality. Have the resources shift in and out like they do now, but all previous spawns would stack with the new spawns, if they were the same type (like Good Quality Dolovite Iron, for instance).

Factories should be made so they can run any type of item, perhaps customized upon assembly like a droid can be.

Oh well, I put my name in the hat for WOW beta testing. **crosses fingers**

My new favorite, Dev blirp, "in the fictional sense of crafting."

Well I suppose there isn't a thing called anItem Factory is there? Butthere is a Wpn Factory which also moonlights as a factory ofmisfit Items found inScout and some qwerky other Classes.

But I see a schematic in Homemaking as an Item, not a Foodand Chem, just an Item. What do you see it as? You guys are the Artisans?

I also see CDEFs as trash, requiring recatagorizing intothe trashpile/junk catagory on the bazaar. I grow old, ofscrolling pastthem to find good buys and competitor prices. Let the newbies give there CDEFs to junkdealers!!! This is not the place for this, so I won't continue my grievances with it.

Back to Artisan Glassware, you see the predicament I have is I have HUGE reserves of gems, HUGE I repeat. Because I use them alot in Scopes and Barrels. I'd like to run a few off for the Chef profession and sell them to them for a handy dandy profit. But I can't, unless I buy and Deed a Food and Chem factory something far more expensive than my measely Wpn Factory.

Can I justify the expense, NOPE, I'd sooner delete them, than split and sell themon the bazaar. It's not worth it for me totake off one item of my precious 25 bazaar alotments and toss some crap gems up for sale, in the long run. In the fictional sense of crafting, I see the weapon factory as an item factory and Artisan Glassware as items, not food.

Oar, what galaxy are you on? If you are on Kettemoor I would be willing to run those gems through my factory, and we could split the profit (if we could find anyone to buy the glasses and casks we could make). I can even make the stupid trim that goes on the casks.

Does an Artisan need a factory of each type to craft Artisan items? Is this the official plan? Is there any planning? Is this game being run by the notes Thunderheart scribbled on his lunch napkin?

What server are you on? I was thinking we could set up a 'Buy You a Food & Chemical' fund. Yes I know it makes no sense as you rightly say. But I work with what I'm given.

I wasn't a correspondent during the Chef revamp, which is what this came out of, but my impression is that like items (chef items, for instance) are grouped together under the same factory heading. Clothing and clothing parts for a wearables factory, food and food parts for a food factory, etc.

Doesn't make sense, but then again, neither does resource shifts, mining steel (it's an alloy of carbon and iron), having to use a water harvester on Naboo, Rori, Dantooine, Dathomir, Corellia (or any other planet with rivers and lakes), fusion plants needing radioactives to mine (fusion is hydrogen and/or helium atoms combining to form heavier elements and releasing energy doing so, radioactives are very heavy elements that are used in Fission plants), or that I need umpteen fiddly little parts to make, say, a crafting station, but to make a speederbike, I only need great big lumps of ferrous metal and non-ferrous metal.

/shrug
It's a game. Realism need not apply. I'll settle for internal consistancy. :-)

Take care

I agree its not for realism its for consistancy. Lets look at it the other way. Lets say you want to make some artisan drinks. Do you want to run two factories? A food factory to make the drink and an item factory to make the container? Be careful what you wish for, the devs might hear you.
