Is it my server or are there more and more players trying to be an AS lately? Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with it, but it just seems like there are so many people "trying it out".The more AS, the less custom orders I have to fill and more time to experiment.
Wonder what the CU will do to this.....

Probably because Armorsmiths are considered one of the richer classes, however most people don't realize the time and dedication it takes to produce good products, many of them will be one week smiths I bet.

Agree 100%.
I'm glad a lot of people are taking it up to. They will now see how difficult it is and what it takes to run a successful Armor Business.

Agreed, that's why I started, to make credits. It took so much work to get the resources I have now and the 12 pts. If you're not up to it, and don't love crafting you'll master and realize you hate it.

I got a real shocker of a request the other day, shows how little some people know about crafting... Was in a starport with the MAS title up and someone asks for a set of armor, I tell him nicely that i have a stocked vendor just a couple of shuttle rides away, but he persists with the want it now attitude. He says can't you just knock me up a couple of sets with your crafting tool while we queue for the shuttle... I try to get the message across that it takes over a week for me to make armor, with all the different runs but he is having none of it, still wants me to just knock up a couple of sets.... At that point the shuttle comes and I just go, gave up on him.

I do it to make my own armor cuz it all gets busted soloing Elders

lol. I love it. Most fun profession I've done yet. Hands down. Well, minus the occasional idiot who claims I must suck as an AS since I can't make him 80% stun composite. OI! I usually make sure to have alcohol on hand when I'm in a highly populated place with my MAS tag up

i agree... it actually takes a lot of tinkering and understanding of layers and game mechanics... which makes it fun and challenging... most of the other craft professions rely purely on resource quality then just maxing out a single line....

I chose AS because it seemed like it would actually take some brains to accomplish making good armor. I have played with the majority of the professions at this point both crafting and combat, and I enjoy a challenge, There is nothing more worthless to me than something like Architecht where there is absolutely no skill involved with crafting. WS is a good challenge because of it's complexity and the specific involvements of enhancements and components. Though AS doesn't look like it will be as challenging as WS it did seem like a nice change of pace from my current WS/SW build so I'll be dropping SW and picking up AS.

Good to see everyone here like what they do. Personally I got into AS Dec 2003 mainly because my guild need one and there was only 2-3 others on the server making armor at the time. Really wanted to try it out and see if I would be any good. Started by making Ubese, like most do and it took off from there. Now I'm one of the main sellers of high quality composite and get lots of request for RIS.
I love this profession and never see myself stopping.

I swore a year ago that I'd never touch another crafting class -- I'd tried tailor, and made a royal mess of it, and quit. Part of that was sheer n00bishness. I actually had no idea what I was doing then.
When JtL was being betad, I grabbed shipwright from the frog, and got into it during the time when I could still just take Master. Gathered up all the bits, sat down to make myself a ship.
By the time I was done, I looked up and realized I'd spent three hours, just making a ship, and loved every minute of it.
I knew SW would be insane on my play server, so I looked over my options, and chose between AS and WS -- and mistakenly beleiving that WS would be harder, chose AS. Silly me.
I love it, though. At the moment I'm extremely small-scale still, I don't have a business vendor, and mostly craft for friends and guild, but it's enough. It makes up for the credits that I don't get dancing, since I have no combat anymore, oops!
And it gives me something to do when there's no RP, and I don't want to fly. I'm happy, and I'm not even a 12-pointer.

when I moved to tempest to start a new character on a new server with a fresh start I decided I would give crafting a try, something new, refreshing, and use my brain a bit instead of running around killing stuff all day. After I made my first set of bone armor (which I STILL have on display in my shop) I completly fell in love with it, trying to make better products, refining my skills, getting the next awesome spawn, and just completly fell in love with the entire system, the entracacies, the competition, the credits, the popularity, everything was just so awesome I loved it, and now fighting is a chore whenever I get on my hunting alt, I'd rather be crafting

I know how you feel. I'd rather spend hours crafting instead of 10 minutes hunting.
