Thread: Best Blast Armor?
- High Blast Resistance
- Low Encumbrance
- Kinetic Resistance (but not nearly as important as blast)
I have been told layered padded armor is the answer. I have also been told layered composite armor is the answer.
What do you all think?
BTW: I will be looking for someone to make this armor in Scylla. I may want to order several sets, but would probably want to buy one set first to make sure it works as well as I think it will.

You've gotten me thinking. I'm going to see what padded will do tonight.
Considering it's already a special protection, I'll bet blast can hit 80% with very little HAM increase. My thoughts are using composite's electric protection as an example though. And comp is, in many ways, a totally different animal.
Unfortunately, I'm not on your server, So it isn't going to help your search much.
Edit: More of a reply to Slider - sorry for going OT
Base is not added to blast in padded like with electric in comp, so you won't get similar results. With 2 blast layers, and really nice resources, you will probably top out at 60 blast on a great day with padded :/ However, you can make very nice kinetic and energy padded for the people who are tired of ubese and composite vanilla for PVE use - they will be most appreciative. I made a 79 kin padded suit a week ago that auctioned nicely, and have more orders than resources to fill for a small run of 74 kin padded suits. That is a bit off topic, but might be useful for you in other endeavors. The short of it is that padded actually is not great for blast resist.

Darthblock,
Your suggestion of 80% kin and 80% blast will not pass requirement no. 2 - as that is maxing the layers the encoumb is going to be like 900 ish......
To the origanal post - what is more important, high kinetic or low HAM???
or you can try some Ubese:

Encumbrance I think is more important than kinetic resistance ... I would think that normal base resists on Comp would be more than adequate for my purposes.
Who is Cas Venkoo ? I was actually planning to use this in my new-found hobby of soloing krayt dragons. I am a Master Swordsman / Master Doc, and soloing these guys requires good blast protection, but mind encumbrance can seriously interfere with my ability to stim and special over the course of a 30-40 minute battle.

Do Krayt's do blast damage then? (Sorry, never seen one)
Anyway - I do not think the padded gloves are all that good.... I have just made a blast layered comp glove and the stats are as follows...
80% blast - 63% base - 51/48/53 HAM, thus the full suit is going to be about.....
660/605/705 HAM... This will slice on a good one to a minimum possible value of 363/333/388 HAM (so assume if you had a few sets to start with, the 400's is a good target)....

Kilun,
Am I guessing correctly that this kind of padded set (80% Blast) might have a pre-sliced encumbrance between 500/500/500 and 600/600/600 ?
If so that sounds A LOT better than the other options (for my very specific application)

If you play on Farstar I will make you some 80% blast comp / 60% ish base with HAM around the 650 mark pre slice - a good encoumb slice will get this down to under 400/400/400 HAM.... 300k per set?
