Hi,

I wanted to ask you Armorsmiths how Padded Armor compares to Ubese and Composite Armor in terms
of Encumberance, Effectiveness and Price?
I've created my first fighter character recently and I don't want to use these Armors because they look stupid,
so I thought about getting padded armor, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of AS that sell them...
What do you usually charge for a complete set and are they worth it?

Unlayered padded is pretty weak (though a bit lighter), so I am assuming you would want layered padded. If you layer it, you can get ONE of either Energy, Kinetic, Cold, or Electricity up to 80% in the special category. Kinetic is the obvious choice.

Assuming you go with Kinetic-layered padded:

Encumberance - Very heavy for what you get

80% Kinetic Padded - 6xx / 7xx / 7xx - 20K-ish for condition (doesn't last very long)

80% Kinetic Comp - 5xx / 4xx / 5xx - 40K-ish for condition (lasts twice as long as padded)

77% Ubese I made 6 months ago - 2xx / 3xx / 3xx - Can't remember condition, but similar to padded I think

Effectiveness -

Special - 80% Kinetic, 35-ish% Blast - Can't be sliced higher

Base - 52% Energy, Cold, and Electricity - Can be sliced higher

Cost - Very Pricey, and rightly so

Reason 1) One suit of padded armor uses about 4x the amount of creature resources as comp

Can't remember the exact numbers, since I'm sitting at work and not at home

Reason 2) Lack of post-creation color assignment

...all padded orders end up being custom orders which are much harder to deal with than factory runs

Padded armor takes a lot of time and rare resourses, so it 's just more expensive. But you can really express yourself in this armor - if you want something special

No Padded armor doesnt suck, it can be made well (about like ubese but looks much better). The thing is AS wont normally sell the good padded on a vendor in mass. You can find a reputable AS to make you a high resist set custom.

Padded has holes in it but if you can accept only having Energy or only kinitic layered into max those resists its just fine but its gonna cost you more then a set of quality comp and have less protection overall.

yea its alot cheaper to make good composite than good padded because of the hides

Ackire...not a flame or evil retort...I'm just a stubborn rock when it comes to my opinioins

Rancor Segments are "loot components", and therefore don't qualify for my earlier rant...and I believe they still have sucky condition, but can't remember...might be wrong. Regardless...segments like those are rare, and for every one suit of padded made that way, I can make a lot more composite suits, and people can afford to grind through them.

You're not really swinging me...I still say it sucks...the only real point you're making is that it provides a different look.

"...My rancor Padded show armor...Made with 43% base segments..." - Use of the word "show" here makes me think you're probably not actually using it, and merely displaying it.

"...It has 80 kin, energy, cold, heat and Electric..." - Some of my comp has 90% Acid, Blast, Cold,Energy, Heat, Kinetic; 80% Electricity; and 27% Stun. HAM is high, but I can probably make 20 suits like this for every one suit of padded you can make with 43% Base Rancor Segments.

Yea, its not sliced. I also make 80 base armor too. MY point is, that its doable. Not trying to sway you. I agree its 100% easier to make composite, but like I said earlier, alot of people are just tired of looking like clone cylons.

Thanks all for the answers. Guess I'll stick with Ubese then until I'm not poor anymore.

Ubese made me millions when I first started with AS. Sold a couple suits of padded, but it just made people mad, it sucked that bad.

I hate the organics in Padded, so typically stay away. Cost more to make than comp, but people don't realize that, so we have to charge less.
