Nah, padded armor can be very good for protections. My current padded on chilly is 80 kin 51/52 base before slice and is less ham than the composite. Padded is by far a unique and fun armor. I do agree with the other smiths on one aspect, it is all custom ordered. There is a variety of colors that come with padded and this is a nice plus. I sell most of my padded armor for base black(factory run) at 175k for a full set. For the custom colored armors its 190k.

Ronnie, it doesnt suck, is just a specialty armor. Not everyone wants to look like a cylon clone. I agree for the resources, its more cost effective for armorsmiths to make composite, but as a player, sometimes they just want a change. Also, think about this. Rancor drops segments for padded and if you can get decent base, can have a good set of padded armor.
Example:
My rancor Padded show armor...Made with 43% base segments. I used a set of 11 and set of 9(i bought this set)
It has 80 kin, energy, cold, heat and Electric. THe blast is 40ish(cant remeber exact as im at work). The hams on this stuff are low, again cant remember exact amt as im at work. It just really depends onwhat the buyers want and theresources you can get.

Well...ok.. composite is easy way to make money...but I made my first AS million selling custom padded

just dont make anything but ubese and comp in huge quanitites...
Ive made some serious money selling custom hunting armor suits with 80 kin 40 stun 67-71% base (janta enhanced).... last suit sold for 3 million folks. (which actually pays for the uber expensive tat wooly hide i use in the pillows and final /gag)

No aucallly thats a bad mentaility when you say all armor with stats of not 80 sucks..
Light padded is awsome stuff for 90% of the npc mobs in the game,.. I made a stun/acid layer with stats of 30% and under 300 ham it its amazing.. i go kill stuff all the time with out buffs and have no problems in my light armor.. with out layers i can make 50% padded about 200 ham
I hunt in chitin all the time.. and even at 65% kin its better than 80% comp cuase of the lower ham..
Even supper light mabari can rock in the right situation..
Id also take 60% energy ubses over 80% comp too.. the regen difference makes a big difference when an amror has 400 less ham thats huge even with mega buffs
soo unless all you do is fight NS elders and goto DWD where you need the longer life on heavy armor.. then you are missing out on some great armors. Soo get outt athe mind set that if its not 80% it blows.. cause when CR hits all you power gamer 80% buffed comp users are gonna be in a world of hurt.. and most smiths havent a clue how to make good armor.. some do but the vast majority dont

if you want light padded use krayt scales and ns layers.... should be able to pump kinetic/energy to 60-70%.... or if you got really fancy you could use RIS layers on the single segment pieces... mine are 3% ham -7/-7/-7 so you'd fill the vulns (except for stun) and your pieces would have like 10/10/10 ham

Yea but like ive said before... making lots of suits of padded with NS is just not gonna happen.. just the complexity alone to make 200 peices of padded with NS is a weeks work in its self.. and where are you gonna get 400-500 NS shards and layers anyway??

Well, the thought of hand crafting padded type armour in the manner suggestedwith special loot resources...linked to the recent GCW info about different players needs for armour...I think it will really come into it's own.
But until then, it is just pretty.

Yea, im making 80 kin 51 base on chilastra with no special components needed. Its fairly decent on hams too. Can wear all but 2 peices unbuffed.

I make custom padded armor, and it sells really well. If you do it right you can make really good unbuffed padded armor which is good for both NPC's and Animals. I got almost a full suit at 50% Energy Resist and 33%Base. I could probably get close to the same with a special kinetic layers too, and i am only a 10pt As, i bet a 12pt could get even better.
Of course it's on hold right now because we haven't had a goos Scaley hide spawn in months

Mate, this suit is designed that with a weak buff, like the ones coming when doc buffs are nerfed, with still be awesome to use. In addition, with general foods, its useable. It no different then composite armor, and at least when this suit is worn, you dont look like a cylon clone. And before your criticize, maybe you should ask how many suits ive sold. At last count on these suits, I have sold 300 sets. Thats 300 sets in a little over a month. At 200k, you do the math. Guess I must me doing something right.
