I get a few everyday since i became a master. They always want Composite too and not just any Composite, the best i can make...for FREE. It amazes me how people think. I had one guy get angry at me because i refused to give him some Ubese for free.

I've had a few /tells like this before. A few were quite aggressive in demanding free armor, which I find rather funny.

In those cases, /addignore is your best friend

yeah i get alot of them sometimes and like you said pretty demaning. I made the huge mistake of giving someone free armor one time. Sometimes when i make armor and i have less then great successes i'll keep the pieces either to give to guild mates for display or whatever. well i told the guy for 5k he could buy a helm, chest and leggs. well then he's like well what about this piece or this one and this one also. well after i gave him that next thing i know my e-mail is filled with like 5 of his friends wanting the same thing and /tell hell

I haven't gotten any tells like that. I geta lot of people trying to haggle over pricing (my favorite is the master doc who wanted to argue over 7K for what seemed like an hour), people who want me to give them "crappy" armor for looks, and people that want to debate with you whether or not your armor is any good ("I know this guy whose friend's guildmate gets 3% better on his base with the same HAM").

For the most part, I just ignore them. Most of them fall into the category of "completely clueless" when it comes to judging the worth of any player crafted item.

I love the ppl that request "Your best armor all encum sliced. Oh, and I only have 200k"

I've become so numb in this game. Don't even put ppl on ignore anymore. I just flat out ignore stupid questions.

Is that why you've stopped responding to my tells?

I don't getreally get any asking for free, but I do get some that keep hinting at wanting to get a lower price. Like the "Oh your composite chestpiece is 40k? Well it will take me a few days to come up with that. What can I get for 15k now."

I've gotten to the point whereI usually just say,"Sorry". Sometimes I try to explain, but most of the time its just not worth my time.Since I quit taking custom orders, I just point people to the vendor. Maybe it sounds "uncool" for me to do that, but as much as I like being an armorsmith, I don't enjoy crafting 100% of the time.I mean I can't sell full suits of composite for 40k. I'd have nothing on my vendor and I'd be crafting 24 hours a day.

LOL!!! A holo for a suit of armor and 100k. That's funny. He should have offered the holo plus 300k for the suit.

You must be joking! No wonder armorsmiths have a rep of being greedy. A 67% base suit is in my opinion not worth more than 150-200 k. Hmm, maybe thats why I never get tells to give armor for free.

Must be a nice server your on. 66% base on Shadowfire can only be made my the old smiths with stocked resources. A suit of the cost me about 110k to even make.

Surprisingly, this happens to me quite often. I never have seen so many beggars in the game. Most of the time, they are asking for any old or used armor I am willing to "part" with. The word "part" is code for "free." That being said, I have nothing against giving a charity suit.

For example, one time there was a newb on my server, asking what type of armor I was wearing, and telling me that she wanted a suit. I was feeling generous, and I was wearing Padded Armor at the time, which resource wise, is quite complicated to make. However, I told her I would make her a suit. She then demands I make it ASAP, because tomorrow wasn't good enough. So, I agree to do it, but I needed to travel to Rori from Naboo to pick my stuff up. She agrees to wait in Theed, where we met, for my quick return. I go, and come back, and she's gone. Not online. No message. Nothing.

Since then, I have decided not to be nice anymore. I traveled 30 minutes, just to get ditched, for trying to make someone a free suit. Unbelievable.

you are definately right here

it is worth 300-500k (it does cost at least 150k or so to make, usually more)

Well I am just your average Jane armorsmith..no extra tapes etc. Had my master title up only once and that was for two hours when I first got the title. Havent ever put it up since. Thinking of removing my Master dancer title too. If I am not in a cantina I really dont want to stop what i am doing but ppl will drive me nuts with pms for mind buffs. I use to end up running to dant mining outpost to have the person tip me 500cr..no more..live and learn..tip 10k up front if I have to come to you otherwise forget it. But on the armor thing..i happen to become master when resources for comp on our server bottomed out and havent really recovered. Ppl cant seem to get it thro their head..I am not going to waste resources on crap armor or have my name on it. Now I offer to make some nice ubese or padded but padded dang costs a lot to make . Or how bout ppl that want padded for the look only so want it cheaper??Doh no matter where exp pts go..still costly to make. No longer do custom orders as most have no idea of color palettes so therefore I end up making several pieces that are worthless. Anyhoo glad I wasnt the only one aggravated hehe. Oh and speeders is another area. I wont bother taking up good resources for a vehicle anymore as ppl want it given to them. I tell guildies if they bring me materials i make for free..other ppl if they bring me materials I charge them 3k to make it...guess what? Not bothered for vehicles anymore YAY!

Emily you can't judge what people sell their armor for like that. I don't get tells for free armor either, butif I had 67% base armor at 150-200k, I would be crafting non stop 24 hours a day to keep anything on my vendor. I haveraisedmy price upto 150k for UNLAYERED 64/55 Composite just to allow me to have decent sales and keep something on my vendor. Its not all about what its "worth". Its supply and demand.

Holo's on Starsider are going for like 150k. Add 300k and thats not a bad price for the best armor you can get.

Blame the economy, exploits, and bugs, not the smith.
