but the best thing is that the armoured wookie fits in so well here. he actually looks like he was an orignal cast member.

When wookie armor was first approved I had in my mind a picture of barf from Space Balls in that black "Space Ball" armor. Personally I think that would look a lot better than this.

First impression, yes it looks funny but I began thinking what the knee pads would look like, based on what wookiee arm wraps resemble and the short kilt with the metal buckle on the front. I began to see where the designers may have been going with this.
Yes, it looks like plenty of hides and bone to make this type. I do hope we will be able to use a wide range of colors and not let it be a tantel or bone type of color pallet.
This is what I have hoped for, a species specific armor type. Your in a freaking Galaxy isolated for years from other cultures and species and were supposed to believe that all species developed armor that looks exactly alike across the vast Galaxy? There should be hundreds of variations of each armor, style, attachments, colors etc all being different. Im sure it would be challenging to program but would make visiting a starport more exciting as you gawk at what exotic combination of armor that alien is wearing .. instead of seeing a Twilek , Rodian, Mon Cal, Human, Trandosian in Composite armor and each suit looks like the other.
This Imho ENHANCES the immersion effect. It will definitly improve some RP scenarios if there are Wookiee Guilds or Cities and every Wook comes out in full armor. ( please no 1 Commando with a flamethrower could wipe out the Wookiee Homeworld jokes as Im already chuckling at the idea.)
I am hopeful that future armor styles will include ( for wookiees ) exotic looking materials, as well as more race specific items. Perhaps Mon Cal Crustacean armor?? or Trandosan Scale Armor ??
Does it look different ? Yes and I'm glad. I dont want to look like a bounty hunter, I just want some defensive armor that works.
