Just had a couple of question for you'all, I have just started going up the Armorsmith tree, I have been looking at the Schematic on www.swgcenter.com, the items that I can make from the Layers branch I can use to add differ type of Protection to the armor that I make, is that right?

On the Schematic Padded Armor it says I need to use Lokian Leathery Hide to be able to make this type of armor, is that right or will any type of Leathery Hide work now?

You can add layers to armor to incread the % of protection or remove a vulnerability of a armor. However the incumberance is increased alot and most armorsmiths dont think it is worth adding layers.

For padded Armor you have to have Lok Leathery to make; as many other items in the armorsmith prefession need certain specific materials.

And just some added info i would go up to ubese them get tech4 and worry about psg and layers untill you have complete the tech tree and the armor types tree.

It is worth adding a kinetic layer to Advanced bone. That extra ham cost isnt so bad as bone is already pretty low and since Energy and Kinetic are the most likely damage types you see in PvE you get a pretty good set of armor you can wear even if your a lowly crafter without the beefed up HAM of a combat type. Makes thoose trips to your harvestors a lot more bearable.

Bone does not take layers...

Ubese takes 1, padded 2, and composte 3. No other armors take layers.

They do, however, take enhancements, which are dropped by assorted mobs.

I am going to be starting out as a novice armorsmith and was wondering what were some of the main resources that I will be needing. I wanted to start harvesting resources befor I started. Thanks for any info you can give me.

metal and chemical...mainly fiberplast but you need other chemicals too.

Currently: TKA with a dash of Master Marksman and a tidbit of Medic
Mastered: Who cares?
Likes: Long walks on Dantooine...although sometimes I have to walk the beach 2-3 times before it stops warping me back.

Hmm, seem to be getting a lot of these questions. I'll put it in the next version of the Guide, but here's a quick list for advanced ubese and composite, the two things you'll make most often.

Stock up on Colat Iron, good naboo fibroplast (high SR/OQ/Mall), Kiirium Steel, Axidite Iron, Neutronium Steel, good solid petrochem, good intrusive ore, berrylius copper, and polysteel copper.

Hello,

Id like to preface this by saying that this forum is by far the most professional forum of all. I am really impressed with the attitude, and the information here. I have an alternate character that I am going to make into an Armorsmith. I feel that Armorsmith will fit my lifestyle, and playstyle. (I often dont have large blocks of time to play, rather many smaller ones, enough to check resources and harvesters. Also my main character is a MD/MCM so unless my friends are online I cant really do much by myself. Because of that I have no real income so hopefully Armorsmith will provide me with some credits)

I intend on becoming a very good and reputable smith, though I realize it could take me six months or more to harvest the best resources as they become available. I also understand that I will first have to accumulate literally hundreds of heavy harvesters, and dozens of factories. But this is the path I have chosen.

I look forward to being active on these forums, and thank you in advance for your help.

I read the Armorsmith guide, and I have a question on gated resources.

Lets say im looking for Beryllius Copper, which is gated at MA 594-683 SR 404-468 UT 394-475 So I am looking through SWGCraft.com does a "gated" resource mean that I will never see Beryllius Copper with a MA over 683, or does it mean that a Beryllius Copper with an MA of 999 is no better than one with an MA of 683?

Do the gated resources only apply when making layers/segments or is that for every Armorsmith schematic?

Thank you very much for your time.

It means that youre highly unlikely to see something spawn with stats better than that... its entirely possible of course in a world where everything is based on the roll of a random number generator.. but thats whats been observed in the past.

Oh... and I think that OQ ranges from 1-1000 on every material... its only the other stats which seem to have artificial limits on them.

And any 'named' resources are usually limited in some form or another... its unlikely that beyrillius copper will ever be as good as generic 'copper' because theres different 'grades' of material - for example, phrik aluminium usually seems to have the best stats than all other types of aluminium, and if it requires say 'titanium aluminium' then you could very well be at a disadvantage from the off.

From a copper viewpoint, polysteel and platenite coppers seem to be the better quality ones, beyrillus and say for instance mythra or codoan will usually have slightly lower stats on average to the first two.

I doubt you will need hundreds of heavy harvesters and dozens of factories unless you have many many accounts or lots of friends willing to lend you their lots. Personally I have only 3 factories, about 5 medium harvesters and a bunch of personal ones. Works fine for me.
