Thread: New armorsmith questions
I doubt you will need hundreds of heavy harvesters and dozens of factories unless you have many many accounts or lots of friends willing to lend you their lots. Personally I have only 3 factories, about 5 medium harvesters and a bunch of personal ones. Works fine for me.

I agree with Emily here. The scale of your business will dictate the amounts of materials you will need. I stay relatively small business scale with medium scale harvesting. Personal harvestors should befine for your needs while working on armorsmith. However, collecting the specific resources with the qualities an armorsmith needs will require some diligence. Especially when credits are an issue. Learn when the resource shifts normally hit your server and drop your harvestors within the first few days of a new spawn. I usually plan for a 5 day run with hopes of a 7 day run of harvesting. Also, don't forget about hides. Always keep on the lookout for great deals on hides and HQ hides. Once you get the Harvestor stuff down, the toughest part is finding good hides and waiting for theelusive resource in your Galaxy.

I started out grindin mabari chests and AUKs(armor upgrade kits). AUKs don't offer much xp, but they only require 2 resources. Now i'm about to switch to ubese shirts. They only require 3 resources, don't know how much xp they give tho. It's not just about what gives the most xp. You have to think about the amount of resources u'll need to craft the item and how many clicks is it gonna take too. As to which skill trees to climb first, i'd say personal armor and technique. Save layers and then psgs till last. Synth cloth only requires novice talior skills. So u can either buy them from a tailor or get some tailor skills. Personally, i went the latter road and picked up some tailor skills. U might want to think about gettin up to field wear 3 in tailor, since 3 of ur components for armor are in with the tailor skills(syth cloth, reinforced fiber panel, armor padding). Synth cloth isn't too expensive to buy, but armor padding is expensive. The cheapest price i found for armor padding, on my server anyway, was 10k per factory crate(25 armor paddings). And most definitely get urself a factory or even 2 to start, just to make the components u need. I also like to hand craft my armor. Like u said, it adds a uniqueness to ur armor, but keep in mind that u probably won't be able to keep up with all the orders u get when u become a master. To me, quantity of sales and the amount of cash i have doesn't matter. Ienjoy hand craftin armor, i'm not in armorsmithin for the cash like some are,and i will continue to do so evenwhen i become a master. As to whether to grind up to master or craft armor to sell, till u get master the only ppl that are really goin to buy ur product are newbies. If u just craft armor to sell, ur in for a long haul. Personally i like to combine the 2. Newbies need armor too and they can generate some income for u and give u a customer base for when u become a master, but don't expect a huge amount of sales from them. You'll still have to do missions for cash.

If it is possible is all about resources, from what I remember 4.66 is in the area around 91,66% so it takes one helluva lot of points and makes your armor darned heavy.
Maybe go for 4.5 (87.5%) on two layers and one layer of just 4 (75%)
Depending on the base on your unlayered you can see if you have to throw points into special on your layers to get that magic 80% or just go for a HAM reduction.
Second question is what type of composite sells the best, currently I can only make good kinetic layers but I am working on getting the resources for stun layers.
this doesnt go as much into the crafting side but this might be usefull
