Thread: Actual Role of Armor in the CU -- Direct from SOE!

This might be old news but....

Just so there is no doubt, I received the generic email about the upcoming "features" of the CU. The only direct quote is as follows:

Under the heading:

New Profession Roles in Combat Ensure All Professions Are Needed

  • Use of armor to increase customization and show factional alignment.

    • It says absolutely NOTHING about armor used for protection or anything else that actually contributes to combat effectiveness.

Face it people, AS is really another name for Tailor now.

Caile, you got to be kidding me. I just died 3 times trying to get into my damn house as a crafter. I cant make armors atm because im waiting on the 5 day factory run, and then when I was making the stuff up, I was left over with 5 and 6 points of experimentation. SOOOOOO, please tell me how this doesnt stink?

Now if some genius ever pulled it off... well that would be another matter entirely. You seariously don't think we're worried about this do you?"

      So, this is true then?

I noticed in PvP I didn't see armor actually doing anything (such as in pre-CU how it would tell you armor prevents xx damage) but I just wasn't sure.

Thanks...makes you wonder how many other htings they changed that they don't explicitly tell us. This would help avoid confusion.

I managed to get my crafter to the village and back without dying today. Its not hard if you are careful (i.e. don't afk fly hehe) and use the trees/hills/structures to your advantage with the new LoS settings.

Harvesters are a bit different if you have things camping them, altho I found (in most cases) creeping very slowly closer on your bike until you are *just* in range to operate it often allows you to do so without agro from mobs standing next to it.

Just an FYI concerning placing harvesters. It was mentioned on the WS board that getting the scout tree for mask scent would be helpful for dropping harvestersif you cats can spare the points. I know it isn't perhaps what us crafters want to hear but it is a work around at least for the time being.
