I remember the DEVS touting this armor...is anyone actually wearing/using it?

No, several people have helmets for show... its too time consuming, boring to actually loot all the required parts to make anything more than 1 item.

You forgot to mention that with RIS's current stat setup, a quality Composite Helm is still superior. Personally I think that's the biggest reason no one is using it. If RIS was actually better, you'd have tons of hardcore PvPers camping the GDK spawn so that they could get a Helm that would give them a leg up in PvP.

I just had a piece of it made today. It is useful in pvp, but you have to look to the other pieces (not helm and chest).

The legs were my first test of what it can be. Boots and arm pieces will hopefully follow soon. Kinetic was a little low, and was basically a sacrifice for the really low action enc. We could have made it higher kinteic with abouthave about 100action encumbrance (which we probably should have).

Your leggings are nice, but the vulnerabilities to Stun and Acid are going to leave you pretty open to damage. The low encumbrance will start to make a difference if you managed to get a whole suit of RIS, and even then, with doctor buffs and all the new chef foodsI don't think the slight lowering of encumbrance is worth the trade off in protection. Not to mention that if you want low-encum armor you can get enough Nightsister Shards for an entire suit of composite with less effort than it would take to get just one GDK scale. Heck, using absolutely no loot, and just relying on good resourses and a good slice, you can get a piece of composite armor that has 80% Electricity, 40% Stun, and 90% to all else (This is on Starsider). Throw in some average or above average Nightsister Shards and you'll be able to cut 90-200 off each type of HAM. Unless you absolutely refuse to fight buffed, I just don't think RIS can compete with that.

Who is going to shoot me in the legs with stun or acid? The only issue with these leggings is the low kinetic, that could be a problem which will be corrected easily in future items.

Just as a note, these are not sliced yet.

Also RIS is one segment, which means I only need 1 NS shard per item. Therefore my set of 7 shards used to make this piece will make all the rest of the pieces I want. Same goes for the layers. I don't need matching sets.

I will make the rest of the arms/boots with RIS and then make a nice composite chest/helm. I can make a full suit with almost 0 mind encumbrance, which will be nice for a rifleman when defense stacking no longer works.

I don't care which one is easier, only which is better.

Maybe I am wrong but...

A pistoleer/Smug with a Geo Blaster "stun damage" spaming Last Ditch would hit the legs.

Also a Rifleman doing strafe 2 with either the new DX6-R Rifle or a Jawa Iron Rifle is gonna hit your legs from time to time.

Man you guys need to get real here. All of the above are technically correct, but other than the rifleman doing strafe 2, you are either not going to see the others, or they are not really a huge concern.Lets put it this way, if I die due to random shots hitting my legs here and there, I have more to work on than just my armor. Maybe if I am in a one on one duel (in which this is not the armor im wearing anyway) I could see any of the above being a major concern, but in other scenarios it isn't going to happen.

I think you're overestimating how many proffessions use targetted attacks. All of the following attacks are, or will beused regularly and have a chance of hitting the legs...

Pistols (Both DX2 and Scatter do Acid damage, and Geo and Tangle do Stun damage.)

  1. Stopping Shot

  2. Fan Shot

  3. Last Ditch

Carbines (Both the DX6R and Nym Slugthrower do Acid damage.)

  1. Leg Shot

  2. Action Shot

  3. Crippling Shot

  4. Full Auto Single

  5. Full Auto Area

  6. Charge Shot

  7. Burst Shot

Rifles (The DX6-R does Acid damage and the Jawa Ion Rifle does Stun damage.)

  1. Strafe Shot

  2. Flurry Shot

I can't speak for Melee proffessions, since I don't know their attacks as well, but as for the general ranged proffessions, the only time you're not going to have shots hitting you in the legs is if you go up against a rifleman who sticks to head shots or a BH who sticks to Eye shot or Torso shot. Also keep in mind, that after patch 7, Carbineer is getting some major boosts. Action Shot, which will always hit either the legs or boots, if now going to have an AOE posture change down effectin addition todoing damage and inflictinga bleed DOT. I expect that attack to get used quite a lot. Burst Shot 2 is also getting changed into a AOE attack with a damage muliplier of 6. While it won't hit the legs on every shot, that's still a lot of damage to take there when it does. Its basically going to be the Carbineer's version of Strafe Shot 2.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to knock your RIS pants, but even with the stats you have there's still no good reason other than looks to wear them instead of a comprable pair of composite leggings.

Pikeman target legs, electric, energy and kinetic dmg

Fencer has some random ones and can use stun
