I heard that Chitin uses wooly hide. What are the easiest creatures to hunt for this and their locations?

Thanks!

I've only found one creature so far that provides wooly hide and that is banthas on Tatooine. There are many varieties of banthas, but the easiest to hunt would probably be either rogue banthas or feral banthas. Both have lower HAM pools than regular banthas. Technically, if you use the correct technique, it is fairly simple to hunt any sort of bantha by yourself, simply a matter of time. I've found that shooting a bantha from a distance, and then running away as the bantha chases you works fairly well. A bantha doesn't seem to run as fast as a person so as long as you stick to flat ground you can always stay ahead of it, shooting as you run. Rifle works the best for this as you want to keep a pretty solid distance between you and the bantha. There may be a way to do it by yourself if you are a brawler but I really can't imagine how unless you are very advanced, seeing as banthas tend to kill you with approximately 3-4 hits (with armor on, though admittedly, not very good armor) and can hit up to 16 meters away. Rogue and Feral banthas have approximately 2,000 in each HAM pool, normal, Dune, and Tusken Banthas have anywhere from 4k-6k, Bull Banthas have 6k+ and matriarchal banthas have around 8k. Feral Banthas are the only kind of aggressive bantha I have seen so far, though a Tusken Bantha is almost always accompanied by at least one Tusken Raider (approximately 5k in each pool, armed with a Tusken Rifle), who are extremely aggressive and the Tusken Bantha will attack anyone who attacks the Raider attached to it. Banthas tend to be found in herds of 5-6, but curiously, if you attack one, none of the rest will respond, only the one you attack. I do of course go out of my way to try and avoid getting more than one bantha on me, but it would seem statistically likely that I would have messed up at least once after fighting a couple hundred bantha and gotten more than one on me if that was possible, but this never happened. With one exception I should mention that is: a matriarchal bantha will attack you if you attach any of the bull banthas around her. I'm not positive if she would do the same for a normal bantha as it has only happened once. Of course, if you are looking for easy wooly hide, bull and matriarchal banthas are to be avoided anyway. Baby banthas are of course the easiest route, as they give you approximately the same amount of hide that a full sized bantha will, with much, much less health, though they also give no combat/weapon experience. I've seen banthas at various locations around Tatooine, but the greatest concentration I have come across so far is in the vicinity of Jabba's Palace, which is approximately one kilometer north-west of Wayfar. If you turn your terrain distance to maximum, you will have absolutely no trouble finding it as Jabba's Palace is quite immense. There are four large towers, only one of which is accessible. That one is approximately the same size as a city on the onscreen map, while each of the rest is about the same size as a typical Tatooine starport, except that all towers stretch hundreds of meters up. There are no creatures in the immediate vicinity of Jabba's main tower (out to about 300 meters), but after that finding banthas is merely a matter of walking around for a little bit. Other hostile creatures in the vicinity include Tusken raiders (and the odd Tusken Leader, Chieftan, and King, all of which have enormous amounts of life), dragonets, desert squills and swarming lesser dewbacks. None of these creatures is to be trifled with, especially as they almost always come in packs. To get the most hide off of each bantha, each successive Hunting level will get you more, though it is otherwise a fairly useless skill unless you plan on getting Master Scout or Creature Handler. And there you have it, Menion's (mostly) Complete Guide to Bantha Hunting, hope it helps out.

Wooly hide is dropped by a variety of animals, at least on Corellia. Try gubburs, vrelts, durnis, and... oh goodness their name escapes me, the small flying critters (not vyknocks). Anyway, most of the starting creatures have all the types of hide you are after. Of course, there are other larger creatures which drop wooly, but I have not made a list of which yet. I enjoy hunting them all!

Thanks guys, very insightful.

I think I'll wait for Warning Shot so I can take on bigger game.

Looks like I'll also go to Corellia after testing my mettle against some Bantha.

Thanks again!

Peko Peko on naboo also drop wolly hides.

chitin armor also requires leathery and scaly hides. In fact it requires more of those than of wolly.

Accually the best wooly hide I have found ingame is that found on Talus. Paralopes drop it @ 7 units per animal. Just grab destroy missions for paralopes and blast away! Mallability is 970 so it works really well as armor padding with minimal encumberance.

Best leathery hides are found an Tatoonie...still looking for the best Scaley

Anyways stay away from the rest of the wooly unless you are desperate!!

Wrix give bristly. On Corellia at the very least the harder mobs give bristly.
