For lack of better things to do while I wait for the login server to be fixed, I thought it be helpful to have a section for tips on how to play the scout profession and gaining experience.

Not super helpful but to get this kicked off if your going to go with a Trandoshanscout (whichare slow)you may want to migrate some Constitution and Strength to Quickness and Stamina. You also may want to rethink the choice of Mon Calamari if you want to play a scout unless you love a challenge.

You will get a species mod with Bothan (Camouflage, Cover), Wookie (Trapping, Creature Tamming, Rescue)and Trandoshan (Creature Harvesting)for the scout profession.

Hope this was at least a little helpful.

Train up to Exploration IV before you train any Hunting skills. Having /maskscent plus the high Camouflage skillmod from Exp IV will bring in lots of scout xp from /maskscent succeeding, and you'll get what you need for the Hunting skills much faster. In other words, Exploration gives you your second method of earning Scout xp, so get that up and running.

You can throw traps of several different types all at the same creature in the same battle. Each one that hits will give you Trapping xp.

Just typing or hotkeying /harvest will harvest a random type of resource, but if you want a specific type, use the radial menu option on the corpse.

Bones and Hides will be in high demand by crafters, especially Tailors and Armorcrafters. Meat is less in demand, but will be used by Chefs and medic types.

Use your time in a camp crafting your next camp kit, replacement traps, and food or meds (if you have the skills). Also /forage.

hmm, when hunting beasties remember that agro range is 64M so anything farther wont agro on you.

having novice medic skills helps make camps more usefull

if you are going to be a scout and hunt mobs you need some kind of damage skills (marksman or brawler)

Some specific organics are needed for certain crafters, find out what they need and find the mob that drops that organic (wooly hides for certain armors for example). Find out what is less available, hunt those creatures and make some cash. In beta hides/organics went for about 5 creds per unit but wooly hide was rarer and went for 10 creds/unit

If you are going to sell hides/bone/armor dont sell many small stacks, your customers will be upset, 100 stacks are minimum but I tried to sell only 250and up stacks. Your customers will be gratefull and keep you around.

Get a wearable backpack, it will add 50 to your inventory space when worn

Carry an extra weapon in case the one you have wears out.

ok nuff for now

Also, you can type (or make a macro for) /harvest bone, /harvest hide, and /harvest meat to get the particular resource you want without the radial menu. However, you need to know ahead of time what resources each creature has (some spider-types only have meat, for example), because it won't work if you try to /harvest bone and the creature doesn't have bones. You can use the radial menu option to see what each creature type offers, since that will only show available resource types.

Ok, I have a question... I went scout, and added marksman - took me about 20 minutes to get enough xp for Intermediate Pistol, but there is no way I have 1000 credits to purchase the skill. Where does one go to sell items? I tried the bazaar, but that costs 20 credits, and doesn't guarantee a sell. There weren't any players going 'Got bone?' Got hide?' Hell, I don't even know who needs what.

Just how does one amass all these thousands of credits... According to the movies, a level 1 skill costs 1/10th a speeder?!? That's insane.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Missions are the best way to make money right now. Delivery missions will net you at least a few hundred credits. Take two to the same city, and in one or two trips, you'll have enough to train -- or try to find another player who knows the skill and is willing to teach you.

you can create a macro to harvest whichever item you want. The command string to put in the macro is:

/harvestbone;

I have both harvest bone and harvest hide macros and they work great.

2 things ive found so far

1. /harvest bone|meat|hide does not work in game, they either took it out after beta or im doing it wrong. I tried all variations, such as: /harvest bone, /harvest_bone, /harvestbone and none of them worked.

2. i just helped this other player whack a bunny, for lack of a game name, mound on naboo. I got 650 credits. I was under the impression that your could only get credits from selling to players, or npc missions. but there ya go

My idea is that to open the FS slot you must tip other players. its something that can be done by all and not have to worry about missions outside your professions. what if each person has a random amount of credits they must tip. Could be 1 million....who knows.

If anyone wants to test this idea out, start giving tips to banker-for-jabba. im usually in wayfar and would like to help as many of you open the FS slot. So tip away and good luck.

None of the other ideas have worked yet, and have anyone real thought about tips, i mean a lot of tips.

get a nice scatter, some nice carbines, and a good llc. get them all damage sliced.

go to dantooine. do huurton (matron, regular, huntress, whatever, but huntress is by far hardest....) and just grind away. youll get around 24k xpper lair including the lair itself. its much easier buffed/using pets.

you should get llc 4 very fast, but the others may take longer. for pistol xp, rancors on dathomir with a large group of at least 8 is actually probably best.

good luck bud, and hurry up so we can kill those stinkin jedi!
