Has anyone tested and confirmed if its exp or assembly bonus that increases your chance of creating a 4-socket?

from what i've seen its completely random.....good luck

Tough to say. Anecdotally, I'd say experimentation definitely has an effect. I've been claiming a stealth nerf to sockets since I've been getting far fewer than I used to. I put more of my experimentation suit on (+27 experimentation, only +8 assembly), and I seem to consistently get more sockets. Nothing scientific about those observations, though.

i always craft with assembly food and drink, inspiration buffs in a reearch facility

sometimes i'll pull out entire suits with 4 , sometimes entire suits with 2, sometimes something in between

the only thing that would truley make me believe that something has an effect on it, is if there is a low level smith out there

or a 10 point smith that can confirm they've been getting a large amount of 2 socketed items

To get 4 sockets on all items you needa full moon, and to sacrifice a virgin durni on the doorstep of the Emporer. Alas Durni's dont spawn on Naboo so this is bugged.

I think it might be tied to customization, actually. Of course, we have no way to increase that artificially. I seem to remember non-master smiths and tailors getting extremely low amounts of sockets (1-2 per piece) as they worked through their skill trees, and it not getting muchbetter until they had all of their expt line and then another improvement at master. Right now, I seem to get 3 about 60% of the time, 4 25% of the time, and 2 or less for the other 15%.

oddly enough I was doing a run of padded and 3 pieces (chest, and 2 arms) came out with 1-2 sockets a piece. I had on about +28 exp (dunno what it does afer 25, but my assembly is on a different piece than my exp) and about +6 assembly.

On every single piece, I experimented and crafted the piece, then made another to try for 4 sockets factory piece. Every time on the second try I got 4 sockets.

Probably just luck, but very odd nonetheless.

it's not 100% random. The probability of getting 4 sockets is tied to the quality of resources you use (the better the resources the higher the chance of 4 sockets) I've found this to be true for both tailor and armorsmith items. However haven't done enough tests to solidify my theory, however it does seem the better resources you use the more sockets you will get overall. There is however still chance to get 0 sockets with great resources, and 4 sockets with crap resources, but the numbers haven never been fully tested.

I used to think it was tied to the assembly portion, but noticed a decrease in 4 socket items when we changed the city to a Mfg. center.

I'm gonna toss a guess that experimentation has an impact. Most of my stuff comes out with 4 sockets. There seems to be pieces that are more difficult then others though.

I'll only use 4 socket schematics in the factory run pieces. I noticed I had a hard time getting that on leggings one night. Wound up with like 10 in inventory before I finally hit 4 sockets. Most of the pieces hit the first (some second)try.

haha....for whatever all that is worth. Sorta like repair....only that's confirmed to be worthless.

It is customization. Tailors did a long study of it a while ago and found that it is basically a bell curve that shifts further towards 4 sockets as your customization increases.

edit I wish I could type without errors.

well i know either experimentation or assembly has a factor cause i rember grinding AS doing ubese shirts. When i first started making them i would never get a 4 socket. as i progressed through the grind and gathered more experimention and assembly points i started getting 4 sockets and on a more consistent basis. So, personally i think exp or assembly has a factor but i dont know which.

Wish we could still craft ubese shirts with sockets to try this out

As you progressed through the grind you also gained customization points. As a master, go ahead and make 1000 of the same item and record the socket results. Now, put on a +25 assembly/+25 expt suit and go into a research center and craft 1000 more of the same pieces. You will find that despite hte drastic increase in your expt/assembly scores, you get essentially the same results. The reason is that socketing depends upon customization.

If its any of them (which I don't believe it is, purely random imo) it must be Assembly.

Reason: The number of sockets are determined when a piece of armour is assembled before any experimentation is done to it. Any experimentation results on proir components have no effect at all because using identical components can produce different results in how many sockets a piece of armour has.

I still say its totally random tho, as I haven't noticed a difference between great and amazing success on assembly at all.
