Thread: PvP Armor
I'm getting a lot of requests for high base % PVP armor lately, customers want the base resists in the 60-70% area, unsliced of course.
I'm currently making a run of Electrical Layers with 3%electric/3%base with an 8-8-8 enc.I'm going to triple layerthis with Advanced Composite with a 19% base. (Note - base resists maxed out with the rest into enc reduction).
Should I do a triple layered electric, or do a double electric with a single stun layered maxed for base resists? I just want to get some input as to how you guys would make a suit, I don't want to move the resistances around either as I want them to be sliceable.
I don't think you'll get a worthwhile stun resist with just one stun layer,it might alsostop you getting70% base
Just doing triple electric layers and gettting 70% base will make you a lot more money, you can always make triple stun layered helms for people to use when needed
This is basically all I make anymore (though I have different layering / HAM options), so let me share a few thoughts:
- If you're only getting a 3% base on your electric layers, and still have enough points leftover to reduce the encumbrance to 8/8/8, I would seriously rethink using electric layers. Base is everything, so if you can get 4% with another type of layer, I'd use that instead. Cold layers would be particularly good, as well, since there areonly two AP0 cold weapons. (On Bloodfin, this is usually accomplished with energy layers, though I also do it with blast, heat, and kinetic layers.)
- It sounds as if you're reticent to use anything but electric or stun layers, but again I will reiterate that base % is everything. Get it high enough, and you should be making 80% to your tri-layered resist without ever experimenting on layer special protection. Your other resists will be slicable into that almighty 80-90 range.
- Stun layers are totally not worth it unless you make tri-stun-layered helmets for defense against Jawa headshot or Tangle eyeshot. You'll be reducing your base %, first off, and the defense provided against the primary stun weapon is minimal.
- Forget encumbrance. Any PvP-er worth his salt will have regular access to buffs, food, and spice. They just want the ability to slice that armor up towards 90%.
Just my thoughts.
Thanks Ehril. I jwas thinging Stun-Electrical so I don't move the resists to make them unsliceable. I'll definately check out Cold layers.
