At the the rate armor is decaying is making PvP obsolete to alot of players due to the fact they cant afford it. Its killing the GCW.
-I dont see this as being a hard fix. Make it so each piece has a 1 in 7 chance of getting hit.(the amount ofhits to the pants is insane) We dont have HAM anymore so no reason this cant be done.
-remove the formula on how much dmg is mitigated towards condition. In the old system, it wasnt a big deal cause most armor had 80%+ resists so not much dmg was be applied to condition after dmg was reduced through armor. In the new system the best that can be done is 60% resist. Lets have a flat rate system. For every hit taken, no matter how much or how little the damage, the armors condition gets reduced by XX amount.
Doing some simple changes would go a long way to making the community happy.(but first and for most fix the dam "1 BUG")

I will have to agree, the decay rate is rediculous...course armorsmith's might tend to disagree. I won't drop TKM though just because I cannot afford nor do I want to (I actually could) tobuy armor every week.

I am an armorsmith, but I think much of the cost is people jacking up prices due to higher demand. I tend to keep my prices low, cause I know that armour sets are not lasting as long as they used to...

decay isn't the issue I think
preCU you could grind in ubese pretty cheap, people were spoiled (minus Bria over inflation)
when post CU hit, a lot of things changed. We could no longer just churn out ubese and composite as we wanted.
Factory times are through the roof. We had to gather a lot more resources. We have to make 3 different cores, that added a step to the process.
preCU there were smiths (myself included) that were sitting on resources that a lot of had been mined themselves, and could set whatever price they wanted on their armor, because it was all pure profit. Newer smiths had to offer the same armor cheap just to be able to compete. This environment was good for the customers, as most servers had several reliable big name smiths, and many choices for armor at nice prices.
postCU. I think we can all say that across all servers, many of the big name armor operations disappeared. People had either quit SWG, changed professions, or gone to custom orders only, and were no longer stocking for the masses.
so: postCU you have an environment where the big name operations that decided to keep at it, now had a long list of new resources they needed. Many of the best were out of spawn, and these operations had to wait for a new spawn or pay market prices. The stashes of resources mined for 1cpu are being used with new resources that cost 10-200cpu. This drives up costs, costs that most AS pass on to the customer. As time goes on, and newer spawns of the new resources pop up, expect our costs to go down, and eventually prices (demand too)
so.......in summary
preCU- cheap armor for everyone
- quick turnaround time from factories
- most smiths had stashes of every resource
- costs were much lower
- enough AS operations to supply servers with options in armor, and nice prices
postCU- customers can not afford good armor like they used to
- factory times to make armor, double or triple, extra step added to crafting armor, cuts down turnaround time on getting armor made.
- tons of new resources, must pay 10-200cpu for them, driving up costs
- many AS quit, and those that stick with it struggle to stay stocked
- people demand capped unlayered armors, even if just below offers 0.01% less protection
I really do not think that decay is the issue. I think that armor prices will come down as smiths get larger stashes of all of the core/segment resources, and as more smiths enter the profession
the days where you could go get a full suit of ubese to grind in for 90k are over my friend.
if you want cheaper armor, go to the cheap guy that is selling 5888 battle for half the price of the guy across the street for 6000 resists
anyone agree?

and why is not affording armor killing Pvp?
if a player wants the best, they have to pay for it
preCu the 90% base, low HAM stun armor wasn't cheap, why should PvP stuff be cheap now?

I think armor decay rate should slow down.
and...
They need to fix the "0 or 1/1 condition armor" bug. -_-

Yeah, but that's a bit too selfish of a thought, don't you think? Especially when the decay rate on armor is insanely high.

There is something called an armour repair kit... should address many of the issues with decay... and extend the life of the armour... then again, there's the ADK's themselves..

even pre-cu armor never decayed at the rate it is now. If armor decayed at the rate pre-cu as it does now, i would still be campaigning to lower decay rate, even with the cheaper prices.. I PvP to, and going through a set of armor in one night is stupid.
