Thread: In Response To the New Damage Type... I'd Like to Propose A New Item for Armour...

Since Jedi now get their very own damage type, Lightsaber, which replaced restraint, I wish to bring to your attention something.

Now that pretty much nothing (as far as I know) has a resist against Lightsaber (because nothing that I know of resisted restraint), Jedi are going to dominate PVP and PVE. They already did 1k damage when I had a 90% kenetic Composit... I can only imagine what they'll do now.

So now that Jedi have their own damage type that nothing has resists to, Armoursmiths should be able to offer armour that can resist Lightsaber.

In the EU, there is a mineral called Cortosis that resists lightsaber. In KotOR, Swords were made of this so that they could resist Lightsaber attacks. In Jedi Outcast, Cortosis was used to make Shadow Trooper Armour, which had heavy resist to Lightsaber.

Now I'm not sure how Armoursmith works and stuff, but I think that Cortosis should be added into the game. Armoursmiths should be able to use Cortosis to craft sets of Armour that have resists to Lightsaber.

By having Cortosis, People who fight Jedi, be it a BH, or any other Combat Profession, can actually stand a chance against a Jedi.

Also, think of it this way... Armour with Lightsaber resist would sell like hot-cakes... plus, with a new rare recourse, it would be more expensive... being an Armoursmith would make a person filthy rich.

1k damage huh. Me thinks either your armor wasn't 90% kinetic, or the jedi had a 2x dmg sliced saber....

Isn't there already Cortosis Ore in the game? Or maybe it's not the same thing.

actually its not. 5th gen krayt pearl sabers are in the upwards of 1500 damage...so lets roll with that 1500 base. I'm not sure how much damage multipliers are on all the attacks...but lets just say its 3k damage in pve. Reduce this by 75% for pvp. Leaves you with 750 base damage. Do your AP calculations. Medium ap against light AR. Your given only 25% increase. Gives you 937.5 total damage. Reduce this by 80%(average kenetic resistance).

187.5 Damage get through.

So that 1k comment is a little off =)

Maybe the devs could make a Cortosis Layer Schematic Loot drop in the Death Watch Bunker. Make the saber damage a vulnerability on all armors except Mando and RIS then.

actually jedi specials do at least 4x, at least a couple of them. with a super saber you could get upwards to 1800 damage. add 25% and you get a solid 9000 damage swing in pve. take off your 75% for pvp and you're left with 2250 or so.

but yeah with 90% kinetic they'd still only do 200+ barely

maybe it was an armor hole or a piece of armor you weren't wearing?

Composite resists restraint damage. Cortosis ore is in game, its not used for much.

pretty much everything with medium/heavy armor has decent restraint resist, and some things like nightsisters have 100% restraint.

And if we can craft lightsaber resistant armor, we are right back to the dmg type beeing kinetic

No, only a FEW things should be able to withstand a lightsaber, and I like the thought of only PSG's doing that now.

No we wouldn't. If they put "Saber" type damage in as the vulnerability to all armor, it would be more comparable along the lines of Stun with composite (45% max resists). Thats only if they allow AS's to craft "Saber" damage type layers also.

ok well i talked to ppl on test center and they have said that the ONLY armor with lightsaber resist now are personal shield generators. composite and all others are vuln. so it hasn't just swapped out with restraint.

and from what i hear, chitin armor should have SOME lightsaber resist according to the EU.

oh great, that means PVP will become jedi and combat medic only since no one else can compete with either of those classes
