Thread: Does race matter?

Does race matter for armorsmithing? I notice that Humans get a bonus for artisan, does that carry over? Sorry for the n00b question.

The human racial modifier only counts toward Artisan crafting.

I picked an Ithorian and started a brawler is this a dumb choice?. He said the race was meant to be crafters. I just thought it was a cool looking race. Any ideas?

Some races have advantages in certain professions. For example: Humans get an experimentation bonus for artisan, and Twi'lek get a healing bonus in entertainer. Zabraks seem ideal for combat now. They get an innate buffing ability that gives like 20% bonus on health/regen stats. In the past it was a trade-off because zabrak also had very limited mind pool for specials. Now that mind is no longer needed for attacks, it seems they have a distinct advantage in combat with no drawbacks.

and what about the wookiees? they have a larger health pool, a bonus for creature handling, and don't forget wookieeroar. they might have a bonus to scouting, but i do not recall.

You are correct, some races appear to regain health, action, or mind faster than others. I'm guessing that they used some of the old bonus attributes when they changed the way HAM works. Take my Zab doc/pike seems to regain mind faster than my human doc/pike. Yet my Zab goes through action alot faster than my human.

So these are the differences I've seen (besides other bonuses):


Human: Normal

Wookiee: More Health

Ithorian: More Health

Mon Cal: Action Regen

Zabrak: Mind Regen

Don't forget that some species have diffrent armor they can wear. This can effect they're proffesion. Since wookiees dont have that much armor, they may do so well in brawler battles where armor will really help you out.

The bonuses help too, but heck, they dont help all that much. It didn't stop my wookiee from going Fencer did it?

I have a Trandoshan Brawler on Bria (4330), and the Unarmed bonuses help him a lot. The +15 is basically another skill box.

Tandoshans also get an innate regen skill that can be activated every 30(?) minutes for 5(?) minutes of extra regen. Lizzies ftw!

The regen is once an hour. It's a 20% boost for 5 minutes. I don't use it much cause it don't do much. My Zabrac seems to heal action quicker than my Tandoshan. Over all the Zabrac seems to be better for melee than me Tandoshan. The plus 15 dmg is nice for newbe's but other than that it's useless...

In the long run the bonusesdont much matter, SEAs can make up for any differences.


If you want a true benefit, make a Wook. With that choice you can turn out bowcasters and that is something a non wook cant do.
