Well I was excited about the coming CU because it seemed they were bringing the star wars feel back. NOW they go and say that FACTION ARMOR will cost about the SAME amount of FP as it does now. SOE don't you understand THAT'S why you don't see much faction armor out there now. I would gladly even wear the crappy ST armor now if it didn't cost 1mil + to buy the FP for hours upon hours grinding the FP at 12-15 FP per kill. PLZ people let the dev's know you want to wear faction armor and hopefully we can ge the FP requirement toned down.

Do you know if the schematics can be traded or not? If they can, then it's not so bad because people can just grind FP a while to buy the schematics and trade to us.

If they can't be traded, then yeah it'll be very pricey and also much harder for an AS to carry both imp and reb suits (it'll cost the AS 410 fp just to get to lance corporal which has a high enough FP cap to hold the FP needed to buy the schematics).

i believe it was Blixtev that said Factioned AS's were the only ones able to purchase the schematics.. which means we'd just get paid back in faction rather than credits basically

You pay FP to get the schems, you have to be factioned and an armorsmith.
You get 10 uses to a schem, then when you sell them/trade them, the person has to pay FP to equip it, and it is "bio-linked" to them, so it could be traded, but not wworn by anyone but that person.

The big price WONT be the buying of the schematic it will be the biolinking to them. I don't think ppl realize how much they are going to me making this cost the player in FP. Go to the faction recruiter and add up how much the entire cost of a suit costs now and then figure the player will have to pay probably 75% of that total amount just to put his suit on the first time.

The real question is "How do you know how much its going to cost", There isn't a MasterArmoursmith on TC-5 to test it out so right now you don't know what the split is going to be.

The FP cost could be split between the AS and the 10 customers who buy the schem. Think about it, why would they put in a system of crafting the armour if you could just trade your FP and get the armour from the recuiter for a lower cost (unless ofcourse they take out buying the armour from the recruiter in general).

You have spammed this on 4 boards and your meeting the same response, wait to see what the system is before you start complaining about it. If it costs someone 5k in FP just to put on a suit of armour then YES I'll be standing next to you complaining too BUT until we find out your just speculating and doomsaying.

No, the time to speak up is NOW. The devs need to know that the FP costs are a good part of the reason no one used faction armor. The cost should be VASTLY reduced, or even eliminated. Even if it became a 50K one time faction point cost, for the AS, that would be preferable to this whole attuning system, and the fact that each suit costs FP. Many Armorsmiths are non-combat, and unloess they're guilded now crafting faction armor will be out of bounds for them.

I'd prefer paying a large sum of FP once for the certification to craft the armor, than having to pay for each and every schematic. And players shouldn't be penalized for wanting to take part in the GCW. Time to start Encouraging it, not the other way around.

While yes it does suck that we will still have to pay faction to wear the armor, but whatelse aside from bases is faction to be used for? At-st's are expensive and rarely any use, and rebs have nothing of the sort to compare with. So untill we get some additional uses for faction this is almost a necessasity to keep faction use alive...

The part that gets me, is that they insist the cost must be kept the same. BAD idea. Now that bases determine planet control, that's PLENTY of fp sink. And the fact you can now have faction pets without getting them ganked, I use them alot when I want to make a quick run and not get buffed, they usually die, but sic them on the stormies while I make a break for the hills, lol. I go through FP like mad, and I'm not the only one. Another sink isn't needed, will always be those who don't 'waste' fp, but look at it from a realistic standpoint, if you keep balancing the game for the players who always got time to play, and always get tons of FP to blow, then what happens to the players who don't? I thought they wanted to draw in MORE players, not narrow the game down and down until only the elite few even bother anymore.

I'm a pretty casual gamer, but I could grind hardcore if I really wanted to. The extra time sink not crippling for me really, but I got relatives who ground for an entire MONTH for their trooper armor, andone of themdecayed it in 3 days of pvp use after the overt/covert changes hit live. He hasn't worn faction armor since, and likely won't. They need to fix it, and fast. Before it hits live. Yes I know 'this is a bit early' to speak up about it, but isn't that WHY they let us test to start with, so people could speak up now if something is wrong, and not wait till it hits live and then complain?

There's a ton of other ways this could be done, even if it was like 100 FP per peice to attune, and a hefty one time FP cost to get 'Certified' similar to RIS certified armorsmiths are now, would be acceptible. Most armorsmiths could afford a one time fee, or even a SMALL fee each time. 10-100 FP per peice of armor, perhaps. But 3200 FP for a chest plate, on top of the money? How much will be paid by the smith, and how much does the player get stuck with? Imagine the frustration of some poor schmuck who buys a full set of trooper armor, paying out the nose for sure (I mean come on- 200K for a painting you FOUND off some npc doing missions? One that's not even that rare or hard to find? We know when this stuff new AS gonna charge out the wazoo for it). Goes to equip it- You need 2000 more faction to 'Bio Link' this armor to yourself.... umm... Hello? How long you think that guy is gonna stay around? /logout. Cancel.

Most people waiting on this CU to hit, to decide if they staying or leaving. And I been spending a heck of a lot of time on TC5, and then letting my guild know what's going on, and trying to calm them down if they don't like something- I even got the Uber 'I wanna take out 8 rancor or I quit' crowd on the side of the CU, knowing fully they won't be able to after the CU. So I'm not bashing SOE just to get on the wagon here, Overall, aside from glaring issues (like I can't /peace in combat, due to twitchy animated icons that make me sick I can't even browse my abilities panel sicne it made almost ALL my macros have that icon- that should NOT be the default, but that's another thread, hehe) I have been very impressed with the CU overall. The gameplay is like it was at launch, actually fun. Combat is achallenge, at last. Being a newbie feels like it should, hard. I don't want the game handed out to me, I just want it to look and feel like Star Wars, and with faction armor's proposed changes, it could- Except the issue of FP cost. I'm speaking up now because I WANT this CU to work. I want this to be Star Wars Galaxies, at last. Not just Galaxies. I want to see PLAYER stormies in my Imp guild, and see rebel commandos in that cool new Rebel assault armor instead of composite all over the place, be able to tell who is who without the silly little icons over their heads.

As for other options- Go TKM. Grind that out, and you get defense that is lost if you wear armor. Then get a cheap Imp uniform, and poof. Look imperial, and got good resists. But the CU supposed to be about variety, and forcing everyone to be tkm/whatever wo0n't really accomplish that goal.

So let me get this right... (sorry have been gone past 2 days and Im missing alot)

We have to spend a crap load of FP to buy the schem... sell to the customer in FP and then thay have to have it "Fitted" to them costing MORE FP and then no one else can ever wear it but them?

OMG thanks SOE for crusing my rebel armor deams

OMG FINALLY someone who DIDN'T flame me and SAW what I am talking about. I have had over 100 flames by ppl on 5 different forums about this. Now is the time to let the dev know we don't want customers to have to pay so much FP for this. I really don't understand why ppl are flaming me so bad I'm just trying to HELP THEM!!! They are the ones that will have to pay their part of the FP not me. But its encouraging at least 2 ppl finally see something that I am talking about. As for my combat toon, yes I spend 3 hours grinding FP and got 13k FP but do I REALLY want to be grinding FP when I could be PvPing or hunting or just BSing with my Guild I don't think I should have to. I mean its not going to be any different from the other armors.

I dont think getting the schematics will be much of a problem at all, People are going to want faction armor... tell them to get the schematic... make a suit for them... you get left over uses to make a factory run. It should all work out in the longrun, dont get scared yet.

I agree wholeheartedly. Faction armor will be just as rare as it was, since the customer now has to pay twice for it - once for the AS to make it, and then again when they want to "attune" it. Even if the customer doesn't have to pay much in the way of FP themselves, they will have to pay whatever it cost us to get the armor schematics.

I have no problem with having to choose a side to make the armor - I wouldn't want someone not in my faction making armor - there is no telling their loyalty or what they might actually equip the soldiers with, telling them it's real armor. If you have a problem with combat because you are a crafter, then get a combat class to go with it! You are not stuck with one class. If you spend all of your skill points on only crafting classes, then you shouldn't go out to dangerous places. If you want to make Imperial armor, join the Empire and then either buy FP from a smuggler (and pass the cost on to the buyer) or do something to get the FP yourself (and pass it on to the buyer). Either way, as long as it is being passed on to the buyer, you still be making more of the other armor types anyways.
