I dont think getting the schematics will be much of a problem at all, People are going to want faction armor... tell them to get the schematic... make a suit for them... you get left over uses to make a factory run. It should all work out in the longrun, dont get scared yet.
Sorry ONLY AS can but the schematics. And AGAIN I don't care about the FP AS need to spend. I CARE about the large amount it will cosr customers to "FIT" it. I will cause ppl NOT to buy multiple sets at a time.

even if you are poor
if you are a imp, buy the helmet, and wear it with all white padded
if you are rebel, buy one of the cool new helmets and make a suit of padded that matches it
you can be star warsy without a full suit

Not every one will be able to wear padded

have you tryed to buy them as a player on TC yet or going by what other say? because as of now no one is an armorsmith so it can not be tested. thank you.
No the DEV's have stated this. You might want to actually read the link I have provided before you post, they state thats ONLY factionally alined AS can buy that particular schematic.

AND he said that the total FP cost will be essentially the same.
Which would make a marine armor suit cost about 2 mill cr (at 150cr/1fp) plus what ever fee the AS will charge for time and resources. And don't forget the suit will decay and need to be replaced.
They really must lower the FP cost quite a bit.

My alt is a Rebel Colonel, Master Smuggler, and I've been basing most of my feelings off the costs I'm used to paying for marine armor... which is to say not that much (discount for winning GCW, discount for smuggler).
So I was shocked the other day when I checked the Imp costs with my Bothan armorsmith (penalty for losing GCW, no discount for smuggler, HUGE -30% penalty for being sub-species non-human). 12,000 FP for a stormtrooper chestplate
Unless there are a lot of human Imp armorsmiths, it's going to be a HUGE difference in price between the two factions and my feeling now is that Imp armor costs are going to be too high.
I'm also now wondering how much of an advantage a smuggler/armorsmith template might have, because then you can buy your own FP at cost and you'll get the smuggler purchase discount on the schematics (assuming smuggler still get discounts in their revamped skill tree which is also part of CU).

Space, the final frontier.
I believe my record was 9k FP in 90 minutes.

Well as you know JTL is NOT owned by everyone and DEV's shouldn't make it have to be bought in order to get fast FP.

i'm pretty sure the reason you dont see more faction armor out there now is because is sucks donkey balls. why spend more money on something with 30% base when you can get better armor for cheaper with 70+% base? if faction armor had equivalent stats, which it should after the CU, people would have no problem spending money to buy it.

I'm wondering if we will be able to slice the faction armor before it get bio fitted. If so multiple sets can still be bought, and only the one with the best slice will get bio fitted.

Hard to say. And as for JTL being the answer to grinding out FP. Personally. I'd rather not spend my days doing nothing but idnetical space missions against endless waves of fighters day in day out. Just so I can buy a few schematics. That let me make 10 suits.
And personally I think it's a tad silly if you have to buy the schematic. And only AS can buy them. I'd certainly be all for a system where customer X buys the schematics. Comes to me. I make them a suit at cost/discount/free what ever. And then I get to keep the schematics. And sell the other 9 suits for a much more reasonable cost than X million.
Because then we'd see common every day joe in the faction armor and not just Mr. Moneybags combatant.
As for taking a combat class with the crafter. If you want to be even close to self sufficent. And dont have the cash for a second account. No can do. Albeit if you dont mind a horribly limted vendor capacity then by all means go master artisan/MAS/Combat class X.
But certainly the only reason I've been able to get the scope of operations I have now is thanks to the merchant discount on maintenace, lowered vendor costs. And the fact that at master merchant the vendors will hold 4000 items (And I still run out of room). Now sure once I've been an AS long enough i'll likely be rich too. But for now pretty much all my earnings go right back into crafting. Cause I have to pay for the storage houses, the vendors, the extractors, the vehicle repairs, various foods/spices that keep me alive on hostile plannets while surveying etc.
And of course. Most of it goes into buying up things I cant get myself. Like buying hide, Minerals/Chems etc that I just dont have the spare lots for. Which makes it a tad hard for me to have any noteable combat skills at all. And just forget about even having novice medic.
And oh yeah. Now I wont be able to wear armor when the mobs will one shot incap/kill me. Glee! (Yes I'm still bitter about that -one- point)
CU is all well and good. And alot of the changes _are_ good. But it seems to me that there's a number of classes geting the shaft (And guess what folks. If that winds up being the case? Guess who's footing the bill ultimately. All the non crafters. And a few other classes even more too no doubt.) So while the combat side of things has techncially be well thought out. They've totally ignored eveerything else it seems. And their rushing everything to boot by the sounds of it. Which is not a good sign.
