Thread: 400/400/600 Composite Possible?
That's layered though, right?
I've done a LOT of research on this, and my understanding is that the absolute lowest encumberance one could achieve (pre-slice) with composite would be attained with:
Extremely high (900+) OQ & ML materials. Experimental Durability maxxed on the advanced segments--with NO layering. Then on the final combine, maxxed Experimental Durability again, and leftovers into Effectiveness. Correct?

Great! As I stated, I have a set of really great composite already. It's 80% kinetic, like 67% energy, and 61% everything else. But the encumberance on it is 682/630/698, and that's fully encumberance sliced.
But lots of times, I don't feel like jacking up with full buffs and chugging brandy just so I can put on my armor to drive out to check on a harvester, or go visit a friend in a not-so-safe area. However, wearing ubese just isn't cutting it, because every hostile humanoid I swoop by has a heat weapon, apparently. I'm getting one-shotted a couple times a day!
So I need the AR1 and only one vulnerability. I could care what the resists are, as long as I can put it on without buffing.
That means I have to get it down to 400/400/600, preferably pre-slice. My friend just got Armorsmith from a holocron, and I volunteered to help grind it, so long as I can make myself a few sets of composite too. ![]()

If you want to wear comp and have the 400 limit, you have a few choices.
1 - Buy a set that's built light to begin with. Probably around 450-500 range for encumbrance. (full suit) Get pieces sliced until you get something that has good encumbrance slices.
2 - Omit wearing several pieces. Maybe just wear the helm, chest and legs. Most damage taken falls in these areas.
3 - Have a set made using enhancers that lower encumbrance. ie. Night Sister layers/shards.
Of course, any of these can be combined.
It sounds like you've done your homework where it comes to AR and AP type damage types, so you're educated enough to know that you don't need much in the reistance area. The hard part is going to be finding someone willing to make a suit that'smade with these attributes in mind. I know I haven't been looking for resources promarilywithhigh MA attribute.
What server are you on? (please forgive if you posted it already, I'm in the reply window).Maybe a smith can help. I'd be happy to have a go at it. Anything to break the monotony of "tank" armor.
Another thought just occured....
Have you considered Kryat enhanced Chitin or Mabari? Both are very light and we can probably get rid of most of the vulns.
Why does everyone keep telling me I can get a really nice suit of 60%/80% with 600/500/600?
I HAVE a great suit of 80%/61% already, it's a little higher on encumberance, but I don't care, I'm buffed/drunk when I wear it anyway.
I want to make a 400/400/600 *unsliced* suit of composite, and I don't care at all what the resists are. I'm not even sure if I want a single stun layer on it. If I can get under 400/400/600, then yes I do. I just got my friend to master armorsmith (two hole trees in one sitting, ugh) so tomorrow I get to start playing around.
