Thread: Is getting Novice Tailor worth it?

I'm starting my way up the Armorsmith tree, and was wondering if getting Novice Tailor was worth doing. I'm asking because this is where you get ability to make synthetic cloth. Would it be just the same to get a Novice Tailer to make a schematic for you, or just go ahead and get Novice Tailor yourself? I will say that I do not plan on keeping the Novice Tailor skills because I want the points for other things.

I prefer to find a taylor to make them for me - keeps my factory time free to make armor.... Simple.

Whilst I am more than happy to do runs of syn cloth, RFP's and wookie pillows I don't hand out schematics. Well unless you are a guildee or a very good friend, I know that some crafters dont like doing this either for various reasons.

I used to buy them from a very dedicated tailor who simply required a few days notice to clear factory time, and I loved it. She retired, and I had a hell of a time finding a replacement. I gave up, and now I make my own. It's not about the money, it's about time savings.
If I only had one account though, using up 29 skill points just to be able to make syn cloth and RFP would be a pretty steep price to pay.

Yeah time on large factory runs and tailor componets aren't exactly expensive even for a full run of 40 crates. The only expensive thing is wookie pillows as great rescources unless you harvest them yourself can cost a great deal especially wooly hide (well I don't have to tell you guys about wooly hide prices
)

Okay, I'll ask around tonight if a tailor can make them for me. Do they get XP for making them? Cause, I may be able to talk a Novice into doing it because they get they XP as well as me paying for the cloth.

Oh, should I get the schematic for the cloth, so I can make them later? Or just not worry about it at all, and stick with having them made for me?

I find it's much simpler and easier to just have the skills I need myself. If it was a matter of money I wouldn't care, 100k 200k meh, chump change. But tracking down a tailor, mucking around with what you want, just too much hassle.
I also much prefer having the schematic because then I can make them as I need them. I hate having packs of crates laying around cluttering up my house and my vendor, and my factory's. And at least if I make them myself they can sit in factory output hoppersas I use em.

I would not use the skill points in tailorjust to make a couple of items.
I have been finding a local tailor and paying them 60k foreach schem using my resources. I usually ask for 4 to 6 schems at the same time and I can run them when I need and storage is easier since they occupy a output hopper in your factory. My reasoning is that when I buy a crate of 25 synth cloth or Reinforced Fibre Panels I have been paying 2500cr per crate, a factory runof 40 crates would cost 100K. Since the tailor is not out resources and or factory time and you benefit by running product as you need and you also gain important stoage space it is a win win situation. I take GOOD care of my tailor as I feel the price I pay for the schematic is well worth it.

I personally went with gettin the tailor skills for RFPs and synth cloth. That way I don't have to waste time hunting down a tailor and i don't have to waste my money on paying a tialor to make them or make me a schematic. The only downside is having to use some factory time to make the components, but i'd much rather do that then waste 60k per schematic, like Izzit, and still have to use my own resources and factory. It just seems like a real waste to me to pay a tailor that much for 5 minutes of their time to make a couple of schematics for me to use in my factory. I've got better things to waste my money on then that. Just my 2 cents.

Well, I may get the Tailor skills because I have tried for 2 nights /telling Tailors online, and not one has been able or willingto help.
If I get the schematic for the cloth from the Novice Tailor skills, can I keep it if I "forget" the novice tailor skill?

Helya, Master Tailor Randale here! I have a vendor on Valcyn that I keep stocked with all the different tailor componets. It is in the mall where I do most of my crafting so when I run out of a componet, all I have to do is pull it off my vendor. I actually put it up for my own convienance, but I am surprised at how many crates I sell. If you know a tailor with a shop, you could possibly suggest this to them. It save so much space in my inventory just having to carry one crate of each componet. Since I don't leave my shop much, I always have a supply on hand. I am grinding up 2 armorsmith trees, I WANT those pretty padded boots!! LOL
