beiing around on the forums, almost every smith i have seen has 12 points.

i dont.

i have no idea how you guys get that much cash to buy skilltapes, lol

i know armorsmiths are ment to be the richest players in this game, but hey, i am not.

every week i drop down to like 50k, the most money i ever had was 4 mill, average is like 600k

which is spent on stuff for fun andresources.

what is your weekly income? am i doing anything wrong?

i dont sell any of my **edit** armor, i make aboue 500k per week, at good weeks

I usually make at least 500k per sale. What kind of inventory or you stocking? Are the stats comparable to the smiths in your server? I know you are not 12 points but 10 point smiths can still make good armor and be competitive with them.

find an area of expertise and work on that. then build a good client base. I try to reward my clients by offering them deals or sales every now and then. I use the following techniques to drum up business.

  1. the third set of armor is free or reduced in price

  2. if the client wishs to provide hide or resources he gets a special rate

  3. put items in packs and tell people with every purchase you get a free gift. (locked containers, minor skill attachments, loot componets and the like)

Anyway just a few tips. Im not super wealthy, but im comfortable.

I make 200k a suit, which is a bit below average on my server (300k from the best smiths) but I'm not the absolute best. I usually sell 1-2 suits a day, not a huge amount, but ever since expanding my shop to two different locations, and getting a new group of clients, my money flow has started to increase. I'm about to get over the 10 mill mark again very soon. And hoping soon to get enough money to finally get some more points.

between my weapons and armor (just started weapons again) i make at least 2mil a day good weekend days can see 5-6 times that. However i can never stay over 50mil and am usualy doing good to stay over 10 with all the resources i buy and other odds and ends that grab my attn.

Its all in the location and the marketing. Product plays a large part without a doubt but alittl resource hounding and you can make top stuff wtih 10 points so assuming you ahve done that you just need to get a better location and stay in that one spot while bulding brand rec. and a solid customer base.

Even when i first opened my armor shop a week after the first jedi patch went live i started off overa mil a day cause of teh location i had and the advertising.

1. Advertise: Not spam ingame but put up threads about your shop, what you sell, and the prices on your server trade boards.

2. Find a niche: Do not try to compete with the 12 pointers in making the most uber stun pvp armor. Make grinding kinetic pve armor. The pvpers will want the best no matter the cost but the pve grinders will give up a few percentage points if the armor will save them money, especially if they go through more than a few sets which also means more sales.

3. Make sure you have a good stock: Make sure you never run out of stock on your vendors for the things you sell the most. People hate going to a vendor when it is out of what they want. On the other hand if they see a good stock on each visit they are more likely to return than take a chance on another vendor that has less stock.

4. Harvest more and buy less: Your profit margin increases significantly when you harvest your own resources instead of buying resources from others. Most if not all of the richest smiths have enough alts to drop strip mining farms on every resource they need. This means that your resources only cost you about 1-2 cpu instead of 20-40 cpu.

5. Make friends: If you are not part of a guild join one. Guildies are a great source of organic resources at less than market value. Better yet many are more than happy to help you get creature organics in exchange for suits of armor. What you would normally have to spend millions on would only cost you 3-4 suits of armor. The armor is worth the same millions to your guildy friend as that is what he would have to pay for those suits elsewhere, but it is just guaranteed sales for you and the rest of the armor you sell becomes profit.

IMHO these are the five key things you need to do to increase your profits. Some have said location is important but I do not believe it is. You can be located in or around just about any player city and if your product is worth it and your vendors are stocked people will come. In fact most of the more popular smiths I know are located in out of the way player cities. People will pay the few hundred credits for the round trip ticket to your player city for those extra points from a 12 pointer or to save up to 50k for suits from a 10 pointer.

sure its entirely posible for big name crafters to sell from anywhere they feel lead to. However, starting off where are you going to get the most sales? the place where people ahve to come to specificly for you hopeing you ahve what thay want based on seaing one ofyour add posts? Or the spot they are already right by purcahsing whatever else they need and see your shop remember your ad and stop in to make a purcahse along with the ones that are willing to travel to south ofcnet or east of theed to check out a new vendor but not willing to travel to a player city.

I had 10 suits of 80/80/68 kin/ele/base comp sitting on my damned vendor 800m southeast of coronet for 3 days. I bought a 30k barking droid, dropped near the buff groups near the coronet starport. *Poof*8 suits sold within 2 hours.

Advertise! And thank people when they buy 200k of armor from you...

I agree with the stock issue... infact I am remedying that now... lets see how long it takes the jedi grinders to buy up 45 suits bwahah (and line my pockets)

Generate aprox 50-90 Million a week in sales..

Produce 500-700 suits in a week 80/80/70 12pt Master 50 Factories

Resources enough for 20,000 suits (Legit hiring many mining firms to accomplish this. *3cpu)

I sell for 130k ea suit.. These suits are sold in crates of 25 (bagged) to resellers who disperse them around the galaxy. They also mark my product up to aprox 250k ea.

I stock the leftovers on my vendor usually around 100 suits in peices for 260k total..

Worth.. You really dont want to know..

When you are starting out... Duckfat has great points. Only one thing I would add to that, when you are starting it is crucial for you to be as close to a shuttleport or major starport as you can get.

Others mentioned advertising and that's key, too. You can even make quality repair tools, put your waypoint in the name, and put them on the bazaar for cheap (like 500credits for the 5-use tool).

I would also suggest having a variety of stock, not just composite. In fact, if you make and sell good Ubese for a reasonable price, you will get more than ample customers. Chitin even sells well and your chitin and/or ubese customers today might be your composite customers tomorrow. Work to get low encumbrance not just highest resists. In fact, as a 12pt now well-established master, I recently added an 80%composite made specifically for lower encumbrance (only 60%base) and it sells quite well. It's made with my polysteel copper as the metal in the layers (aluminum might work, if it's good enough) which are experimented for encumbrance first (dropping them to 2/2/2).

As the song says in Gypsy, "You gotta get a gimmick".

Also try to employ a smuggler to slice the parts, will take few to get a complete set of suits with 90% base and then sell it for loads.

ok i think i have a location problem then, lol

living at the end of the galaxy near imperial base on lok.

but i haveset up a vendor near coronet recently and i am stocking now.

i basically make 3 kinds of armor, all composite, a light energy one (80 energy, 60 base), some heavy kinetic(80 kinetic, 68 base) pve and some heavypvp (63 base, 33 stun)

i was going to make more low level armor, but they plain suck yet, lol

oh and i have some kind of specialized on imperial prototype shields, they lack condition cause of my 10 points, but i am selling at reasonable price of 20k per item

i have put a barking droidand i have posts on the trade boards, all about my coronet location. still no sales.

about the resources, i have a good mining contract, so i get most stuff at 3 to 4 cpu, i dont have the lots nor the time to harvest myself

I thought about selling sliced armor, but didnt find a smuggler to hire yet

i was wondering if it was about the stats of my armor, ill post em here later
