Just an ammusing incident I ran into last night in mos Eisley whilst I had my smith flag flying. I wont use the chaps name, as he didnt actually do anything malicious and seemed to have his heart in the right place. His brain however, I would have to consult a master doctor about. A noob runs up to me and introduces himself. My hand poised to knock up some mabari I greet him, the Conversation from there went down hill:
'Can you make me a full suit of Ubese for free? Im a Noob'
'Sure! I always carry around a private crafting station. Whilst im aqt it why dont I knock you up a suit of stun comp, throw in an AV-21 and pimp myself out to Jawas to cover the cost?'
'That would be great'
Assuming he has responded in as sarcastic a manner as myself I drop him a chuckle emote and go about my business, scampering off to the vendors to cruise for cheap hide.
'are you making my armour'
Im amased hes followed me but cant bring myself to be honest.
'yeah, just getting tops top quality wooly hide to craft it'
'its gonna be free isn't it?'
'naturally'
when im done at the vendor hes still loitering and sees me turn to go.
'Is it done? I want a good suit and it has to be free.'
'/lol you are truly forum worthy'
I say predicting his impending forum fame
'what does that mean?'
I spawn my speeder and ake for a sharp exit
'it means Im glad I have wheels and you dont'
I head off towards my workshop and then start getting pms,
'where are you going?'
'to a magical land far away'
'why'
'I have family there'
a long pause ensues while I check my harvester
'are you making my armour?'
'It seems I've failed to convey the required level of sarcasm during this convrsation and for that I am profoundly sorry'
'does this mean your not making my armour?'
'Bingo! do you want to gamble and go for the special prize?'
'why arent you making my armour?'
'There are a number of reasons, notably I object to beggars, whinners and all those unworthy of subclassification.'
'Im not begging'
/addignore
Bit of a lengthy post, sorry about that, but it made me chuckle. Perhaps I was harsh and should have simply said no, but the gu was putting it on a plate. If I run into him again maybe I'll give him a suit of chitin, just for entertaining me whilstI ran my chores. Needless to say, unless im touting for business I'm not gonna fly my armoursmith flag with such zeal in noob towns. Anyone else have any good 'stupid question stories'? I'm guessing you do

I much prefer the 5-50 tells I get every time I shuttle in somewhere asking for free armor repairs. Sometimes I even have people insulting me for not answering them before I've finished loading!
For people using my armor: 99.993 repair tools. For someone else's armor: 0% crit-failed tools. Every piece of broken armor comes with an email and a WP to my shop

I was harassing an Ebay jedi, mainly teasing him for buying his account, he threatened to report me, I said I'd be more than happy to finally get a chance to talk to a CSR about how to get an account that was on ebay banned...I never did hear from a csr.

Nice story.
I was proud when I made Master, so proud I put my tag up and walked into Coronet.
Contestant 1:"Hey man, make me a suit of stun composite for 100k"
Me: "I just made MA I don't have the resources yet..."
Contestant 1: "frikin Noob..."
Me: "Yes, only been playing since September" (this was June)
Contestant 2:"Hey man, make me 3 suits of ubese now please"
Me: "Sorry, I don't make Ubese I work with someone who does"
Contestant 2: "f**k you then"
Me: "charming"
/report
Contestant 3: "HI, can you make me some armor please?"
Me: "What are you after?"
Contestant 3:"Anything free"
Me: "You can have the mabari I have in my pack for 10k, it's a bit used but it's good for starters"
Contestant 3: "no I wanted composite"
Me: "Sorry I don't make composite. You asked for anything"
Contestant 3: "but I want composite.... I pay you 50k"
Me: "For composite? You'll be lucky..."
Contestant 4: "got some composite for me"
Me: "No sorry I don't make it"
Contestant 4: "I pay u 300k now for a full suit 80% kinetic 70% base"
Me: "don't bother, I don't make it"
Contestant 4 "Why you have tag then?"
Me: "Because I am a master armorsmith... Doesn't mean I'm a slave to anyone who asks...."
Contestant 4: "I just want one suit... make for me now."
Me: "I told you I don't make it, I don't have resources and I work with someone else who makes composite"
Contestant 4: "okay 350k... make for now"
/addignore
I won't be doing that again...
FYI I am aPadded specialist on farstar... the words worst spamming galaxy
The tag I use now is both correct and... rare to see... "Materials Specialist" since I also
run a resource store I thought it was apropriate!

oh ive been there. i gave in once or twice, but then the flood started. i hate to be mean to anyone, but good grief, the sense of entitlement people have is ridiculous. go make friends, go make money, or at least offer something to trade before just asking for stuff for free.

I have an alt that is Master Artistan, Weaponsmith, and Armorsmith. Normally I don't leave my player city except to check harvesters and buy other items I need. I must always be just asking for punishment as I don't ever remove my Master Weaponsmith or Armorsmith title. At least once a day I get a tell like this:
*this is weaponsmith stories but I've had the same stuff in armorsmith*
Player 1: Can you make weapons? (weaponsmith tag on)
Myself: Yes, I have worked hard to master the ability to craft fine weapons and armor.
Player 1: I need all of the one-handed swords made to grind.
Myself: Ok, give me a few hours as I'll need to pull all of the resources together or you can visit my shop at....
Myself: The price will be based on 5cpu for materials and labor, will have to add everything up to give you final price.
Player 1: Your not going to just give me the weapons for free?
Myself: Why no, If I did that I would quickly have to close shop as I would work at a loss.
Player 1: F*** you man, I'm not buying anything from you.
Myself: (walks away wondering about the average player age level)
Player 2: What is the best VK and Stun bat you can make?
Myself: My stuff is on par with all other 10 point smiths. The VKs would be 2.2 speed unsliced, etc.
Player 2: I'm looking for Uber weapons.
Myself: Most of the VKs that are classified as Uber are either loot based or exceptional slices. For the stun bat you would want something made with ackly bone.
Player 2: How much would that cost?
Myself: The ackly bone is expensive as it is hard to get. Easy 200k+
Player 2: I only want to spend 50k.
Myself: Then your going to be hard pressed to find a non-standard VK and Stun bat for that amount. I wish you luck.

I am beginning to wonder if Kette is a more civilised place. I don't get near as many of -those- tells even though I always have my tag up. Maybe because I am female and so is my character?
When I get any query about armor I send an email with a waypoint and a run down of prices. I get started on the forwarding of the email when I get a "hi
out of the blue.
I won't do repairs in Coronet, the lag kills me. I won't do repairs unless I have time and that is getting too sparse lately. I sell repair tools on the vendor (and will happily give the waypoint) which are high quality for low price and will cheerfully inform anyone that they can attempt repairs and most likely will have the same results as me or any other master smith (and I don't intend to get CM:Repair because I am not in the repair biz).
The oddest tell/re quests, though, are for things completely unrelated to armor. The one yesterday, "Can you train my pet to be a mount?" *blink* And this person had bought armor from me! By custom order even! Not even a week ago! *blink*

damn that souds familiar,
A Master WS friend of mine recently got asked to carry out a repair, he tells the guy that "a novice entertainer can repair just as well as weaponsmith because its bugged"
The guy says "aww that sucks! why is it bugged?" My friend says "I dunno dude ask Sony"
A few minutes passed and the guy sends him another /tell saying that "I tried asking Sony, but he isn't online!"
This little episode actually made me cry with laughter and damn it felt good!
Oh a good way to deal with beggars... send the the wp to a mission terminal, tell them everything they need for a good set of armour is there.

I wonder if you can even call a character Sony?
I never fly my Armorsmith tag unless I'm trying to impress a friend. I walk around with the awesome "Materials Specialist"flag flying above my head. It's great for amusement as people assume I'm a Tailor, CM, or Commando for some reason.
I must get searched or examined alot as I still seem to get some tells asking for amor and armor repairs. I've only been a master for about a month so the orders I do get aren't overwhelming and it gives me a chance to gather the higher resources I needfor different layers and combinations. I try to have enough in my shop for a suit or two of kinetic comp/padded/ or hunting ready to go at all times.
I think I am going to set up a /reply macro with a detailed explanation of armor stats. I've had 2 'arguments' lately with customers who expect specific (somewhat crazy) stats and it gets annoying trying to explain that I'm not going to sell for 50k a 73% Kinetic Ubese suit they saw somewhere for 180k and have it done today, or an 80/80/80 Comp suit for that matter.
But I still love being an Armorsmith.
And /tells make me laugh

I have been doing repairs for free for months and always wear my tag.
Only thing I ask is for ppls to come to the shop for it.
I know I don't have much more change than anyone else of doing them.
But I would say at least 50% of the non customers that had armor repaired became customers after....
So it does help increase my business a lot...
