Thread: On the infeasibility of the Force sensitive Crafting Mastery skill tree

I'll keep this as short and to the point as I can.

The Facts:

Current exchange rate for armor crafting experience to Force sensitive crafting experience is 5:1. Novice "Crafting Mastery" requires 50,000 Force sensitive crafting experience, equivalent to 100,000 armor crafting experience. Each line of crafting mastery requires 1,225,000 Force senstive crafting experience, equivalent to 6,125,000 armor crafting experience.

The currenttotal Force sensitve experience required for novice crafting mastery and all four crafting mastery trees is 4,950,000, equivalent to 24,750,000 armor crafting experience. Current experience cap for armor crafting is 120,000. Assuming no "Holocredit" is used, one must cap their armor crafting xp 206 times to complete all four branches of crafting mastery.

My Opinion:

I didn't hologrind. I have no problem at all with the the fact that I have no "holocredit", as I didn't earn any. I'm speaking here as someone who doesn't necessarily want a Jedi character, or the extra character slot one recieves at the level of Jedi Padawan. I simply view the new Force sensitive quests as new content, and the new Force sensitive abilities as a way to continue character progression in the profession(s) that I love, and gain some neat but not unbalanced perks.

With that being said, who in the world is going to accumulate almost 25 million armor crafting xp as a practicing master armorsmith? Considering the vast majority of our production is done via factory, our rate of experience gain while practicing our profession of choice is, in a word, slow.

I don't expect to complete the crafting mastery skills in a few days, or even a few weeks. I'd just like to feel as if, through the normal practice of my trade, that I'm gaining something when it comes to this new form of character advancement.

An Interesting (Potential) Side Effect:

Let's say someone does actually decide to tackle this mountain of xp head-on. Are they going to pick any of the elite crafting professions to crank out cheap xp? Well, with structure crafting xp conversions at 30:1 anf the other elite crafting xp rates at 5:1, I doubt it. Instead, they're going to head over to general crafting xp (artisan), where they sufferan 8:1 exhange ration but can accumulate it rapidly by crafing swoops. What in the word is going to happen to the vehicle market is someone knocks out 100 swoops (inventory constraints)before switching to practice mode every time they sit down to grind out some crafting xp for conversion to Force sensitve crafting xp.

I have to agree. As a DE I figured I will have to grind 8.1 million steel and 3.4 million fiberplast to get the FS Crafting tree.

I don't really mind because this path should be hard but anyone who says "just play the game" hasn't crunched the numbers.

it's nuts. that's one thing i hate about the new system is that it will be nearly impossible for me to make that xp.... considering i make maybe 4 suits a week beacause they're going into schematics rather then the 90-200 suits that come out of the factory. I couldn't present a perfect solution, but lowering the costs for the boxes would be a start, as would allowing me to get the xp some other way then making armor.. I've grinded AS twice, I dont want to do it any more. I'm fine with making 4-10 suits a week, but considering how much armor I've produced, i should realistically have the xp flying in. at this rate, it'll take a few years to get near the crafting mastery box at my current armor production rate....

PLEASE look at the rates! For those who want FS crafters and not jedi... I have a jedi and it's less then great... Please give some parts of Force sensitivity some fun to them.. not an impossible quest to cap the # of jedi..

I can understand why those numbers are they way they are. After all too many people are willing to grind. But if you don't grind, it will take well over a year. So it simply can not be done without grinding.

Personally I'll be doing wind gens for my exp. Nice cap/conversion. But I now use practice mode on stuff that fails experimentation rather than exiting the tool. Every little bit counts I guess.

Otherwise I guess you can do padded armor in a rainbow of colors, or a few thousand rainbows of colors as the case may be.

You would have to make 4 chestplates, of ever color combination available for padded armor to master 1 tree...I'll do it as long as SOE's paying for the 5-10 mice I will destroy, and the wrist operation I'll likely need when I'm done.

To put the grind into perspective, if you capped armor crafting xp every day (that's 120K of armor crafting xp), five days a week, it would take you 41 weeks, or about 10 months.

I think you could see how I might feel slighted if you opened your jedi slot, by doing 100 factory runs of armor.

That's not what we're proposing, or asking to be looked at. Keep it on topic please.

meh. My crafter "barely notices anything about myself", so I won't even be getting a chance to try the new grind.

To get the old man I'd have to what... master a whole bunch of proffessions, and do a whole bunch of theme parks? Wait a sec... I thought the holo grind was over? I don't want to master proffessions I don't need or want.

My understanding is that you only have to master 1 maybe 2 professions of your choice. You can do themeparks of your choice but must visit certain POIs which is easy enough to do.

The grind is still there and nasty as ever, no mistake. But the method of that grind is your choice at least. So the new system is marginally better.

i went from barely noticeable to glowing in less than a day

you need 5 contaent badges, that might be the biggest "grind" under new system, I did nym (15 minutes, shuttles took longer) and the warren x2 (less than 1 hour, walk through on alakhazam) to get 3 more and to my glowing status.

that and some POIs with your master armorsmith should get you there.

if it can be done in less than a day, I really dont think it is a grind.

My 2 cents. As a fairly new MA, about 3 months maybe, and loving it! I admit I did grind to master. Not for holo but because I wanted to get right to work on armor that people use, comp, ubese, padded. Unlike most new armorsmiths, I had the resources and money to start right away. I was a former miner and had prolly 20 heavy minerals anf 4-6 each of all the others. I wanted and still want, to be up there with the top 5 armorsmiths of Naritus. Lol u guys know who you are.

Ok this isn't a rant, here's my point.

To be a sucessful armorsmith IMO, you have to pretty much love it. So I really can't see any reputable and competitive armorsmith grinding out the 6,000,000 whatever xp needed.

But...

Tonight I was visited by the old man. Because I was a semi-grinder for a few months I was given 3 full FS trees. Of course I trained in armor experimentation and armor assembly. I trained in Luck also?? dunno. I don't want this char to be a Jedi, I just wanted some of the bonus'.

So whats this give me? I estimate about a 20% increase in amazings and assebly. So whats this mean for me vs. non-force crafters. It means with all the polly, bespin, ect, ill make my perfect layer, seg or piece in 45 minutes as opposed to an hour.

So if u ask me its not a big deal and definately NOT something to grind. Gah especially with looping macros going away!
