That's a good question, hope somebody answers.

I talked to a few dancers, and they seem to go with just asking for a tip. The one dancer said she did it that way because if she, say, asked for 4k, then she would miss out on the guys who tip 10k 20k or 40k or whatever crazy tips those twi'lek dancers can pull in. Being a slimey male rodian, I wasn't too sure if this was the route I should take. Anyway, it seemed I was getting an average of 4k per buff, so I started asking for that, but for some people that got a response like it was very expensive. So then I ask for tips, and I get the idiots giving me 2 credits (slimey rodian male). I'd like a good answer too.

4k is a fair price. I've seen folk charge twice that and get it. It's not quite fair to compare ours to docs. A doc has more oppertunities to get out and do bigtime missions, can make some cash healing wounds, and can sell their enhancement packs to lazy docs and dabblers. Docs can bust out a droid and get people as the come out of the starport in the busy cities, whereas we would have to use the cantina.

For the male dancers, i'd guess it's a bit of a dilemna. You will miss out on the big tips at times, but considering the lesser respect sometimes afforded to our male performers, I could see myself charging a set rate for sure. I do for donations now, and average 5k or so. But like i often joke ingame, i make 1-2k per buff and my "assets" make the other 3k. And thats without wearing fleshwraps or leotards when I play, which might well improve my average tip.

As i am an entertainer, i never ask or fix a price. i always say to my patrons just to give what they want. I have seen players asking about 1K or 2K in kauri for musician or dancer buffs.

Sometimes i got nothing -that's quite rare thanks to you doc-. But i wouldtell that the average tip is around 3-5K. i guess my method is quite good, because for a short instant, other players have to wonder; If i was a musician, how many i would like to earn?i'm often askedafter the tip" is that enough?". And i often tell "if it's fair for you, it's fair for me ^_^" and i /smile.

that was just my two cents.

At tech 4 you'll be able to give 75% buffs. I believe this is an additional 75% to whatever the persons max focus and willpower are set at. For my Zab toon, who has his focus/willpower maxed at 500/900 respectively, my buffs would be an additional 375/675 and they last about 2 hours.

As far as buffing time goes, I've heard anywhere from 4 minutes to 10 minutes for full effect. I haven't personally tested or timed this myself. I generally set an alarm for 10 minutes and chat with friends.

The strength of the buff is determined by your Musical Mind Enhancement skill mod. That number is the percentage by which you buff your target's secondaries. At Technique 4 (without any enhancement clothing) this is 75% (100% at Master).

The duration of your buffis determined by how much you flourish, and which song/instrument you're playing. I usually do Jazz on the bandfill, pile on the flourishes, and can do the full 2 hour buff in 3 minutes (I let it run for 4 minutes to be safe)

thanks for your help and quick replies.

also if i just go up the Techniques line and just get Music Knowledge 1 so the highest song i could play would be Ballad with a Kloo Horn, would it affect the duration at all? or do i need to go higher up the Knowledge line?

Song and instrument really have no impact on buff duration or time to buff for all practical purposes, nor do they change the buff amount. I've extensively tested this with dance and music. I get the same buff amount/duration with a Slitherhorn and Starwars1 as I do withChinkadaloo Hornand Jazz. It's all about the numberof flourishes honestly.

I don't believe so, and I've never noticed any differences.
You may want to avoid using the nalargon or ommni box so that you don't accidentally target something else and stop playing in the middle of your buffing.
Use the instrument you enjoy playing the most! Or better yet, ask the customer if they have requests. I don't often have customers who know enough about the instruments/songs to request something specific, but when I am able to oblige someone's request, they get really happy (and often tippy) .
