According to the updated Holocron, the instrument and song determine the number of flourishes you need to perform to grant a full buff. The higher the instrument/song combo, the less flourishes, the faster the buff.

However, with a quickness buff, and a good macro, I (master) can give a full buff, for full duration playing SW1 on my Mandoviol.

I have tested buffs in various combinations andf instrument and song DO NOT MATTER if you are using a speed buff method such as the "Patent Pending Fragpuppie Uber 3:10 Quickbuff".

I can buff in 3:10 playing SW1 on a slytherhorn....as long as I flourish my butt off. It gets no shorter playing virtuoso on a Nalargon.

i use this macro. maybe adding one more flourish will make it five seconds shorter, i use the chi with virtuoso.

named it musicbuff

/flo 1;/flo 2;/flo 3;/flo 4;/flo5;/pause 8;/macro musicbuff;

LOL that is basically the "PPFragUber3:10QB" 5 flos only cause that is all the server will accept.....and 3:10 is all I can reliably hit due to lost flos due to lag.

Theoretically you can spam perpetual flos and they just go as fast as they can and maybe you'll shave a couple seconds. I prefer this....more standardized.

Technically the instrument or song DOES make a difference.. With a nalargon or virtuoso, it takes 3 flourishes to get to 100%. (35% per flourish.) With a slither on sw1 it takes 10 flourishes to get to 100%. (10% per flourish.) As you can see.. In realistic terms, it makes no difference.

In the beginning, the devs intended that instrument and song choice would affect buff speed. They approved the language that's in the Knowledge Base (and in our FAQ), which was based on a colloquy I had with them six months ago. But right now it doesn't work that way: a slitherhorn works as well as a nalargon. I've already changed the FAQ on a related issue (buff speed), but because they were very specific about this particular issue, I'm going to ask them about it before I change the FAQ.

Personally, I buff with a chid horn on Virt or Jazz. I don't do the speed buff because I don't do macros. If someone wants a quicker buff, they can get it from someone else.

does the artisan buff also help out the armorsmith buff when crafting?

i seen where it says it improves resources by 1 %

I've never tried the artisan buff, but I'd hope it would apply only to artisan items. But anyway, the armorsmith buff adds 2 percent to resource quality so you'd want to go with it anyway.

Buffs override each other.

Also stacking buffs can cause bugs.
