Hi,

In an earlier thread I posted the following info, can any wanderhome smiths verify that this is in fact true and that the energy layer cap has been reached on Wanderhome when the following resources are used with a 2% crafting buff? A screenie would be nice

Looking through swgcraft, it is possible to get 8200 on wanderhome now using the following resources and a entertainer buff. Surprised no wanderhome smiths have posted about it
Alantium Carbonate Ore Duraplede 945 114

Plexite Amorphous Gemstone Ehy 995 422

Polymer Tigrosweowris 1000 971

Kammris Iron Ofabe 997 975

The alantium is a recent shift from about 20 days ago.

A layer built withthese resources will yield around a 98.2 energy value, add in the 2% buff to give 100, 12 x 100 = 1200

Previous to the duraplede, server best alantium was Emoide with 942 100 which would have yielded around a 96.6 energy value, not enough to reach the cap even with the 2% buff.

I hope not

They should get over 98 without a crafting buff, where as server best on farstar is 97 so I think they should cap. I want to see a screenie

Problem is, to my belief, unless every resource stat hits either 1000 or the gated cap, layers will never hit +100. They'll always be 99.9 or less. I guess it comes down to which of our theories is correct with regards to the rounding down of figures to the nearest whole number. If they round down to 99, just like what seems to happen to my theoretical 99.4% layers, then they'll always drop 12 points to 8188.

It'd be interesting to get some feedback from all AS's making high end energy layered, recording what their experimentation was on the layers, what their energy bonus was, and what their final energy resist came out at. If we see patterns to the resist stat in multiples of 12 where the AS has used identical layers for all 4 slots in the segments then it's pretty certain that layers get rounded down. This theory may already be bust though as I'm sure I saw someone selling 8150 recon which would indicate a layer of +95.83, not +95/+96. But then again, it could also be that they were just short of capping their cores.

/me goes round in circles

If this were the case, quad-layered armor would always have resists that increase in blocks of 12 (or 6 for primus layers) points. Clearly, they do not, so that must mean that the decimals (or at least some of them) do carry forward to the core level.

Unless, of course, that there is some rounding routines specifically tailored for max-layers - which would not be totally impropable.

Well that is nice, but my run I am on right now on Flurry I will be making after completion of armor my energy resistance will be 8357. Before put in armor as a core my energy resistance is 7957. I will post a screenie after the factory finishes. I just wanted to bust the 8300 mark on my energy layered armor. Of course this is recon armor so don't know what it would be in my battle and assualt I will have to try it out on my next run.

I have to apologize in advance for this remark, but...

Yeah, right. I am indeed looking forward to seeing that screenshot.

FYI, you will not hit above 8200.

To elaborate, and get off my high horse at the same time, adding 400 to core resists to calculate final armor resist only works with unlayered armor. I am not completely sure of how to calculate it based on the core protection values, but a safe way to go by is

base_armor_resist + 12 * layer_experimental_value.

So quad energy layered (98% layers) base capped recon armor would be 8186 (7000+12*98) energy protection.

Ok well I just got on and made some armor, And I have made armor that went over 8200. Now when I make it, it is only adding 200 to the final product compared to the 400 it was before. And I will supply screenshots in alittle bit. I don't get this cause now it is only 200 to final product when it was 400 before. I made some just the other day and it was still 400 added, now when I sign on it is only 200. Did they change this and if so then when?

K here is the screenshot of some I made the other day and some I made today. If you notice the one made the other day started at 7782 and when made it ended up as 8137. So this is weird, cause when I made it before it just added 400 straight.

http://www.imagedump.com/index.cgi?pick=get&tp=315657

Now the second one started out as 7957 and ended up as 8159. So can you or anyone explain this to me. And also I sent out a email to my guild to see if someone can get a screenshot of the armor I made that hit 8257. Cause the pieces that I had in my house has been changed to 8137 also. And I can have them come on here and post that they saw it at 8257 before today. I swear I am not lieing to you. I wouldn't do that.

So maybe they did something screwy on Flurry, hey they do a lot of things I don't understand. Sorry not good at making clickies.

Let me guess, your 400 adder stuff had a core elemental stat of less than 5600 and the new stuff has a core elemental stat of around 5800 right? This is the way it works. You must think of unlayered cores and layers as separate things. The maximum stats for unlayered recon armor are 5000K 7000E 6000B.The maximum layer is 100, 12 layers to a advanced core to give 1200 bonus on top of your 7000E is 8200, thats the hard cap, no ifs or buts

Ill spell out the example a bit more with numbers.

You previous cores were say 4500K 6500E 5500B. You did the final combine and got a result of 4900K 6900E 5900B.

Ok. you get some better segment and core resources and can now make 4800K 6800E 5800B cores. You do the final combine and still only get 5000K 7000E 6000B. Not surprising since thats the cap, however notice that you only got 200 bonus.

Now, lets take your layers, from the limited stats you have posted I have guessed your final combine gives 8157 energy and so your layer stats are 1157 divided by 12 = 96.4, good layers.

One final point, there is no point in making a core with greater than a 5600 base. Tone down your resoruce mix at either segment or core level, use a few less good resources, save the good stuff. This way you will take maximum advantage of teh 400 adder at the final combine stage.

Finally, read this thread

I have tried in my reply, if you still don't understand then please read the thread I posted to first and then ask additional questions.

Regarding your 8257 statement. I would need proof to believe you here, a screenie etc and confirmation that I am not looking at pre smuggler revamp sliced armor.

I guess ist possible something has chanegd recently, but I have never been able to exceed the caps and this is from a smith that can make 1000 stat segments, 99 energy layers and a can put together a core mix to give a 5960 base before final combine.
